Surging power delivery

Sometimes my car just looses power completely, is like driving a geo metro, it takes over a mile to hit 70mph no matter what great I'm in. If you turn it off and back on its fine. Ford can'tfind a problem with that either, and lately I've noticed it missing occasionally while idling. I just don't get it, I only use shell and Exxon and have had it serviced every 5k. But the surging gets on my last nerve.

I'd like to also mention that my car is not a automatic but a manual 5 speed. So if anyone is having issues there this is completely different. I honestly think its the software tune. Direct Injection is a wonderful thing if enough time is spent tuning the PCM appropriately.

Mine is a 5 speed to. I was thinking the tune but I'm not so sure. I really think its the flywheels. The dual mass flywheels in the car are designed to give to make shifting smoother and I think something is wrong with it. I have no proof just IMO.

1200 miles 5 spd premium fuel 1200 miles on the ODO.

I am running the ac104's with .054 gap this did smooth out idle.

No mods

I have been telling myself its not happening.. hoping it will go away with the nagging thought I made a big mistake. Door panel on the driver side is not close to being installed properly i will make my first case and add the surging. I wish I had a way to log cold morning warm up ..

The car needs a proper tune IMO

Wow, funny you should bring up the door panel. I have a rattling that occurs on my passenger side door every time it's closed. Sounds like something is loose in the door panel.
Again though, it would be nice to be able to tune the PCM.

the only thing I've noticed is the rough idle. i just did the snorkel delete wonder if that will solve my issue?

It's possible but you might want to add rear motor mount swap on your list of things to do.

i may do that too.. but i'm more interested in lowering the car first. if the rough idle gets more annoying then ill put the motor mount in. also i'm half tempted to write a formal complaint to ford about all of rough idling problems and surging problems.. maybe if we all write complaints to ford maybe someone will listen and make a proper tune for all foci.
