Member name: NITETIMEBOLHER
Location: California
Model: ZX3
Color: Pitch Black

Why he loves his Focus:
"First of all thanx for those who voted and supported. Also thanx to my fiance for supporting me with this expensive hobby. I’ve had this focus for around 6 years now, and I guess I’m still not tired of it yet. Hahaha.

I bought the car with the intention of modding it, and its been through different phases, from different kinds of body kits to different set of wheels. I’ve always had the need for speed so I was always bolting on engine mods. The focus sport turbo kit gave me what I was looking for. However I wanted a well rounded car, so I had to have some exterior mods, which mainly consisted of European cosmetics. I guess I became an addict as I modded the interior, the entertainment system, and suspension work as well.

I’m very happy where the car is at today, it’s been very good to me. I love how not only does it go fast in a straight line but can handle corners as well. It’s also very low profile which is perfect for daily driving. The best part about this is, not only can it keep up with the big boys, but it also beats them in how easy it drives and all the luxuries it has, not to mention that it gets about the same gas mileage as it was stock."

His future plans:
"As for future plans, I will be getting a new wheel setup, something different and unique with an aggressive stance to it. Also a Euro RS wing is being currently painted, and I will be putting front and rear night vision cameras. I also have a set of ST170 headlights and a badgeless grill that I will be putting on. As for the bigger mods, I am currently debating about building the internals for more boost, but still undecided."

SEPTEMBER RIDE OF THE MONTH(2009)

Member name: CAYSE
Location: Bloomfield, New Jersey
Model: SVT (3 door)
Color: Infrared

Why he loves his Focus:
"My love for Focuses in general started way back in 2002, when my good friend and longtime Ford fanatic Bryan bought a brand new 2002 ZTS in CD Silver with manual trans. I was a Chevy guy back then, bumbling around in my beat-to-hell '86 Camaro with a tired 305 TBI motor and a falling apart everything-else. I climbed in behind the wheel and couldn't believe how well the car handled. Granted, I could've gotten behind the wheel of a school bus and said something similar compared to the pile I was driving, but then the modding began. Before the infamous Massive had concocted his plans for a silver SVT sedan, Bryan was already well on his way with 5-spoke wheels and a brand new SVT steering wheel, suspension mods, etc.

Jump ahead a couple years and I finally got what I had always wanted, an SVT Focus! A loaded silver 2002 with blue interior, to be exact. I loved it. It was an incredible car to drive; handled beautifully and had good power. And who doesn't love rowing through six gears? Sadly, with only two weeks of ownership under my belt, I flipped it over and totalled it. Summer tires in the dead of winter don't mix on curvy roads; I'll leave it at that.

I had to have another SVT; I was hooked. I loved everything about the car, and I had already drawn up ideas for big mods before crashing the first one. A couple years of saving up money and driving a crap Taurus GL (that I lovingly named LOLGL), I finally found my baby: the 2003 SVT Focus seen here! It had every option except the European Appearance Package, and through a stroke of coincidental luck, my friend Bryan was friends with the previous and only owner (which helped clear up some details and get the price lowered with the dealer).

Jump ahead to now and it's been a long 3 years and change, and the car is now chock full of mods. I don't dare add up the costs of everything, cause I really don't want to know. What I do know is that through all this time, I've grown a strong bond with this fun little car, and formulated a broad plan to make it truly unique, and truly respectable. The not-so-glamorous reputation behind the Focus name belies what a great car it really is, and I'm on a mission, one passenger at a time, to change that reputation."

His future plans:
"This is the goal I've had for my car since day one: power, agility, comfort & style. Many people have taken many Focuses and transformed them into monstrous powerhouses, booming entertainment systems, luxurious Euro cruisers or road-carving go-karts; all of which deserve all the praise and respect they get. But I set out to do what the sport luxury manufacturers do: combine it all. As my interior mods progressed, I had more and more people get into my car and say "OMG, this is a Focus?" As my suspension and brakes mods were done, I had more people getting lost in my rearview in the mountain twisties saying "OMG, was that a Focus?" And as my exterior and power mods get completed, it will be the same story more and more. I aim to start a movement in the Focus community that may have already begun. It isn't necessarily EDM or big boost or a wall of 15" subwoofers. It's simply the best of the mods that can be done while still keeping the Focus what it is: a really practical, really fun street car. It will be soundproofed like a Lexus, put out 250hp or more, have a SQ sound system but hidden like stock, given a sport luxury look and can still haul a 42" TV and entertainment stand in the hatch if I need to. It's a whole new niche I like to call Sport Compact Luxury."

NOVEMBER RIDE OF THE MONTH(2009)

Member name: NCEDILLOS
Location: Farmington Hills, Michigan
Model: Sedan (SE with SPI)
Color: French Blue

Why she loves her Focus:
"This is my first car therefore it has huge sentimental value. I take a lot of pride in how I mod my car exterior and engine wise. There are a good amount of people that dislike how the sedans (in particular 00-04) look. So going in to modding my car my initial goal was to change that thinking and show that these cars can look beautiful. There is also a large majority of people that comment on how the SPI lacks in power, which is why I will be turboing my car and hopefully in a couple years fully build it. I remember my first meet was a cruise and they asked what engine I had and when they learned it was an SPI they joked that I should be in the back lol so I also want to change that mindset because I believe it can be a great engine. All in all I never want to sell this car, I have to much of me in it and I just couldn’t imagine it. It has come a long way from being totally stock, not even having fog lights. My car is a reflection of me and that’s why I love my car so much."

Her future plans:
"I have a full turbo setup waiting to go on my car in spring.
I also have sitting a 98 euro front bumper, Roush side skirts, 05 trunk, 05 taillights, 05 trunk, 05 Sap sedan rear bumper I will be putting on in summer. I will be getting my entire car repainted with all of these parts.
The only thing I don’t have that is in my future plans is coilovers.
I have big plans for the interior but that will be the last.
I am hoping to have all of this done by the end of this upcoming summer."

Why he loves his Focus:
"I love my Focus because it's zippy, handles great, looks very interesting, and it's mine. The Focus is an already fun to drive car straight out of the factory, but with the few modifications I have done so far, it's just a blast to drive! I just love my focus."

JANUARY RIDE OF THE MONTH(2010)

Location: Arnold, Missouri
Model: SVT (3 door)
Color: Pitch Black

Why he loves his Focus:
"I love my SVT Focus for many reasons. I guess flying into a turn way too fast and knowing I can safely exit is one reason. Watching those civics stay in my rear view mirror is a good thing. Stopping faster than most folks even know about is a blessing. Taking the abuse and asking for more, what more could you want. I use my SVTF as a daily driver and I couldn't think of anything else I would rather drive. I think I might have to find another low mileage one to set aside in the stable."

His future plans:
"As for future plans, possibly a NA build or a Powerworks kit would be nice. I would like to pick up a EAP interior, love that black recaro leather. Otherwise, just drive and hang on."

APRIL RIDE OF THE MONTH(2010)

Member name: SLIPSTER17
Location: Palmyra, Pennsylvania
Model: ZX3
Color: Egg Yolk Yellow

Why he loves his Focus:
"I can't thank you all enough for the win in this months' category. There were 5 amazing cars in the running and it means a lot to me that there are those of you out there who think so highly of the car I drive. I think it's still far from perfect, but some of you have said just that; that you love it because it's not something that is stored in a garage and driven only in sunny weather. It's modded, it's used for everything and it's clearly loved. Sure, it's a little scratched here and there and rough around some of the edges, but I guess functionality is the name of my game. So, for all who made this win a reality, here is a little history behind my car.

I was enamored with the Focus when I first saw it on the roads back in late 1999. I loved the sleek shape and the presence of it; which was unlike anything on the streets of my city at that time. I remember picking up a brochure for it when my parents bought their 2000 Taurus and stuffing it in my desk drawer in the hopes that someday, I’d have something like it. But I was still in High School then.

Fast-forward to May 2006 and my senior year of college. I was on my way to visit my then girlfriend for the weekend, driving my beat-up hand-me-down ’98 Contour when I happened by a used car dealer in the tiny town of Wind Gap, PA. Pretty sure I about gave myself whiplash driving by and went back immediately after picking up the girlfriend to give my find the once over. It was a single owner, 2001 Egg-Yolk Yellow ZX3 5-spd with 65k on the clock. All power options and (only offered in 2001) sporting the manual ‘crank’ sunroof. Yes, I drooled, I whined and it took a little scheming, but a week later, it was mine.

4 years and 120k miles later, my lust has become a lifelong love for the first car that was truly mine. It’s my daily driver, my show car, my back road bomber and my kayak hauler. It's treated me reasonably well considering all the miles I've put it with only a couple hiccups along the way. 200k miles, here I come!"

His future plans:
"What’s left for my project? Finishing up the European 2002 front bumper and a nice solid tune. That’s about it…. For the time being!"

Why he loves his Focus:
"With most cars out there, people are drawn to one aspect of it i.e. power, handling, style, ect. After owning four foci, I have come to love every aspect of it. Amazing handling, decent power, great european styling with a great after-market, practicality in both gas mileage and being a hatch back. The most unexpected aspect of the car that I have come to cherish the most is the community. Many other vehicle brands and nameplates have gone through my stable of ever changing cars, but none have come close to the focus community. Such a diverse crowd with such amazing ideas and willingness help each other out is an amazing thing. I owe the look of my focus to the focus community as the large majority of the parts I have changed/installed have been second hand from another fanatic. FF FTW"

Why he loves his Focus:
"The Focus is my very first car, but not the first I have driven. Out of all the cars I have driven, I immediately fell in love with the Focus. With the superb handling, ride, and comfort of the Focus I took it home on Fall 2005. The car was handed to me in Fall of 06 when I then stated working. As soon as I started to see some cash flow, I caught the "Modding Bug". For over 3 years of time, headaches, money, patience and down falls, I still love my focus. I love my Focus simply because it shows a reflection of me, my work of art."

SEPTEMBER RIDE OF THE MONTH(2010)

Member name: WUGCATSVT
Location: Pensacola, Florida
Model: SVT (3 door)
Color: Infrared

Why he loves his Focus:
"To be honest, when I first got my Focus I was working for a Ford Dealer and didnt really like much about Fords. The regular Focus was fun to drive. I loved the clutch and the way it felt but didn't like much of anything else. When I got my SVT it changed everything though. The car is a BLAST to drive. If I go more then a week with out driving it I feel like I'm missing out on something. I LOVE hitting the apex on a corner with the car too. I love the way it revs, sounds, and the amount of comments I get with the car. Ive had it for 5 years and I don't believe this car will ever leave my possession. It will be here for my children to enjoy. I have had it way to long and have done way to many things to see it in the hands of another person. The car has really not been very good to me in the mechanical aspect. I have replaced both the engine and transmission in the car along with other big projects like replacing two bent values on the old motor due to a seal in my Intake manifold getting wedged in the exhaust valves. It's really a love hate relationship with more love the hate."

His future plans:
"-Installing a bigger front sway bar in the front (already on its way UPS)
-keeping up with things that break on it in the future
- continue to Autox it
- when I finally graduate park it in the garage and use it as a weekend only vehicle and eventually store it until I can enjoy it with my children and pass it down the line in the family.
- The car is done being modded after the new sway bar."

NOVEMBER RIDE OF THE MONTH(2010)

Member name: FOCUS311
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Model: SVT (3 door)
Color: Sonic Blue

Why she loves her Focus:
"In 2000 I rode in a rental car that we picked up at the airport. I hadn't heard of or seen the Ford Focus before. I really liked how big the dash area was and I was impressed with how fun and sporty the sedan was to get around in.

The next year, I completed my college degree and landed a job in my field. I was ready to purchase my first new car. I wanted an economical and reliable car to get me to and from my job. The Ford Focus fit the bill. I leased a Focus SE sedan for three years. For my next leased vehicle, I was looking for something with a little more performance. In 2004, a Sport Compact magazine featured the Ford Focus SVT and I loved its appearance and the performance it offered. My coworker told me he had seen a magazine exclusively about the Ford Focus. He said the magazine had an orange cover and featured an orange modified Focus. I picked up the premier issue of Focus Fanatics Magazine and I was blown away by the amount of aftermarket support that was available for the Focus. After driving a completely stock Focus sedan for three years, I was already making plans for my newly leased 2004 Sonic Blue SVT #0602.

I couldn't boost my SVT until after my three year lease was up. My first two modifications to satisfy me until then were a Steeda Short Ram Intake and a CFM adjustable short throw shifter. Next, I had a five piece body kit professionally painted and installed.

In 2007, the lease for my Focus was up. I took out a loan, skipped the extended warranty, and continued with my plan to supercharge my Focus. Fortunately, the Powerworks Supercharger Kit was still available and was being sold at a closeout price. This year I removed the body kit and installed the stock SVT bumpers and side skirts to bring the car's appearance a little more back to its roots.

I love my Focus because it has become my favorite hobby. The car projects I have worked on have been challenging for me, but they always leave me with a sense of reward and accomplishment. I love having an instant bond with other Focus owners at shows and get-togethers. I'll never part with my Focus."

Her future plans:
"The custom dyno tune I received from McNews Automotive this summer was the finishing touch to my car. I plan on being diligent with regular maintenance so that my car will run as long as possible. I am looking forward to many more shows, get-togethers, and track events with the car in the future."

Color: Pitch Black

Why he loves his Focus:
"Okay, lets see. Why do I love My Focus? Easy, because it loves driving hard as much as I do. Honestly, I never thought I would find a compact car that would respond to My driving style the way the Focus does. Having started this love affair as something of a clueless ricer with a POS SPI/ATX, I knew when that one was gone that I would buy another, and that won't change. I love My ST like no other car, and not too long ago, I was given an opportunity to trade titles for an older BMW e36(M3), which I happily turned down. Crazy, maybe. But I love this little car that much."

His future plans:
"What are My future plans? Well, I'd love to go FI, most likely turbo, unless a proven S/C kit comes to light. Sadly, having that goal in mind has kept Me from getting certain bolt ons like exhaust or even a tune until I go boost. Go big or go home, right?lol"

FEBRUARY RIDE OF THE MONTH(2011)

Member name: NICKGT40
LOCATION: Van Nuys, California
MODEL: ZX3
Color: Pitch Black

Why he loves his Focus:
"I guess it's because it's really the first car I've owned. I drove a '95 V8 T-Bird before I bought the car outright back in 2005. Up until just this last friday the car had never left me stranded (fuel pump went out, but was covered under warranty because of a recall!)

As I stated in my ROTM nom thread, I've really done everything in this car from camping to driving some of the best roads the CA coast has to offer. It's hard to beat a car that can get you where you need to be reliably, cheaply, with all of your stuff, and looks good to boot. If I have my way, this car will be in my possession forever. "

His future plans:
"As you guys can see, the exterior is almost done with just a few minor touches left to do. My interior has a little way to go yet, I'm still rocking the stock stereo so getting a nice system in there is definitely planned. Other than that I really like the inside of the car with these MOMO seats and SVT upgraded parts.

Now to the performance goals. Suspension plans are for H&R coilovers, IMO the car is almost as low as it needs to be but the back sits just a little too high for my tastes and the suspension is a little soft. Under the hood, long term plans are a little more complex. The new FSWerks Zetec turbo kit will be the next thing I buy for the car, not sure when it will make it on there, but everything else will be based off that (new clutch, LSD, etc.). If I end up hitting the lotto one day, the car will become a 2-seat RWD focus, exact powerplant to be determined, but you can bet it probably won't be N/A.

Hopefully I get this new job I've been interviewing for since January. If I do, I get a brand new car to drive daily so the Focus will finally become a secondary car and get the babied treatment it really deserves."

MARCH RIDE OF THE MONTH(2011)

Member name: RIDINDIRTYZX3
Location: Lebanon, Pennsylvania
Model: ZX3
Color: Liquid Grey

Why he loves his Focus:
"When I was ready to go to college, I wanted a newer car that would be fairly cheap, good on gas, and more reliable than my '91 Mustang that I had at the time. My family has always been into Fords, and that's all we really owned, so I knew I would probably be persuaded into getting some sort of Ford.

So I began looking around at local dealerships, and found an 02 zx3 that I loved (and it already had nice rims, so that was a plus). I had just enough money for it, so it got it... the only problem was that I needed to learn to drive stick. After a couple weeks of learning to drive it, I fell in love with it. Over the past 4.5 years, alot has changed, as I grew and my style changed, so I love how it is a reflection of myself. I also love being able to go outside and easily work on it to get my mind off of school and work and everything else... I love my car, and don't see myself ever getting rid of it!!!!"

His future plans:
"I have a Top Speed Performance turbo kit on its way, so that will be installed soon. Eventually I plan on building the engine, and have a goal of making 350 hp. I also plan on upgrading the suspension, and getting a euro rear bumper."

Why he loves his Focus:
"I purchased my first Focus in 2004 after graduating high school and got a killer deal on it and fell in love instantly. I immediately began tinkering and modifying everything from wheels and suspension to an upgraded clutch and turbo. In 2007 my first focus was totaled in an accident. The replacement car I bought was a 2000 Jaguar S-type. As much as I loved the Jag there was something missing. A few months later I came across the '04 silver SVT. It already had some work done to it but once again I began tinkering again. The Focus is so easy to work on and its just an all around fun car to own and drive. I have since added another '03 SVT to the stable that I now daily drive. But my favorite thing about the Focus is the community. I have had the chance to meet some many great guys in person and on the forum daily."

JUNE RIDE OF THE MONTH(2011)

Member name: JEREMY R
Location: Marietta, Pennsylvania
Model: ZX3
Color: Pitch Black

Why he loves his Focus:
"What I love about my Focus is that it's become a part of me. None of my close friends drive Foci, and very few even have hatchbacks. Few of them modify their ride as far as i have, even though my car is far from extreme. So everyone knows exactly who it is when they see or hear that annoying, adorable little black hatch rolling up. Jeremy + Focus = party is here. When driving it, I love the way it sounds, as horrible as people think it may be. I especially love the handling. Acceleration may be a little lacking, but when at cruising speed, the responsiveness is amazing. So is speeding up when entering a corner, rather than braking like all the slow people in front of me. Also, my interior is bomb. I have the black interior, with black leather seats from stock. Apparently, few people have that. Also, the Ford Premium sound system. Yum."

His future plans:
"As far as future plans for the Focus, I really don't know. I'm just going to hold off on big mods for a while, and enjoy it the way it sits. Suspension and wheels/tires is what I like to mess with, so we'll see. I would really love to boost it sometime, but I'm not sure I want to drop that kind of cash on it anytime soon. And I really should build the motor first, seeing as how I would find a way to destroy the stock internals, the way I do things. I estimate I have $6 or $7k in mods so far. I really need to start saving up to move out of my momma's house. So for now, I'm just gonna chill and try to enjoy it the way it sits. Oh, and maybe keep it cleaner, inside and out. I suck for that."
