What an absolute embarrassment. Is this a joke? Whoever voted "win" is obviously trolling. Give me an ST and 15grand to spend on it and I am sure I would wipe this shit stain off the road. Carrol is spinning in his grave I bet.
Carroll was well aware of the project. Exactly how much say he had in it I have no idea.
4. Will the Shelby name possibly make it to a new Focus or Fiesta?
Yeah! That's what I'm working on right now. I think you're going to see the industry going completely to small engines with turbochargers. That's the only way you can get the mileage that the government is going to be demanding.
They need to focus on getting the next rs right and stop wasting time in things like these. That car is a joke, can't believe that they had the balls to put it in the auto show.
I'm just amazed that they had a REVEAL on a car with factory HP. It should have been sitting uncovered on the floor. It's a special edition, no doubt. But it isn't 15 large(or more) special.
15k can get yo ua lot of hardcore race stuff for a base st1. and that includes a couple sets of hoosier a6 slicks on slightly smaller diameter wheels, full monty coilovers of jsut about any brand you want. damn good brakes, and a real limited slip diff . i'd go so far as to add a harness bar and aharnesses.
You guys need to quit posting these idiotic comments. Shelby has a LONG history in the sport compact world. He basically invented the American Fast Hatch with the Omni GLH-S, which looking back was only a 29hp increase over the standard Omni GLH. It too, was mostly a stickers, wheel, tire, and emblem kit. The Focus gets pretty much the same formula. Add a respectable amount of HP, add incredible cost to the sticker. Take lumps from purists. Profit.
The CS on the wheel center caps is the logo of Carroll Shelby, NOT a Cobra.
There a dozen comments about zero extra horsepower. Really? Are you that Naive? There's conflicting articles out there about 300+ or 252 hp. Someone posted the base stats for the ST. Get over it and read all the information out there.
Do I think this car is worth 15k over the ST1? Hell no. I'd say this is an 8k package tops. It's really not any more special than the 2007~ Shelby GT-S, which was stripes, a grill, tune, intake, and exhaust. Oh, and some badges that are apparently worth about $5k. Go read up. Learn something today. This should sound VERY familiar. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2007-ford-mustang-shelby-gt-first-drive-review
Once more bolt-on parts and simple turbo upgrades become available, Shelby may add more oomph to the ST, but I wouldn't expect much.
Really dude? First off as it was mentioned before - Shelby copied Bojix. The Bojix ST looks a hell of a lot better anyway. What happened to Shelby designing parts for their cars? Why does Shelby have to wait for the real aftermarket designers to make all the aftermarket parts(including engine mods)? Shelby is nothing more than a name, every other aftermarket company already does it better. Since there is about 15 "Shelby's" plastered all over this pos, I guess you are paying $1,000 per name.[facepalm]
Adding AWD would bump the cost up way beyond $35k. The Focus is designed for FWD, always has been and always will be. There is a reason there are many more V8/RWD conversions than AWD converted Foci. It's easier and cheaper.
Tacky, gaudy and drastically overpriced are three terms that immediately come to mind. They certainly did not do the ST any justice, and as others have noted, the seats look like eBay specials. Carroll must be rolling over in his grave. To me, it looks to be nothing more than a quick money grab by the powers that be at Shelby.
Is it more idiotic to think that the Borla exhaust that Shelby is putting on the car provides 0 extra horsepower as well?
I doubt the cars will even be released without the tune, they're simply playing the CYA role until it's finalized what vendor they are going to go through.
It's possible. Aftermarket exhausts have been shown to give minimal to no gains over the stock SVT exhaust. Plus without a tune, the ECU might not know how to properly utilize an upgraded exhaust. Or perhaps Borla/Shelby just haven't dyno'd and documented the before/after yet. IIRC the Borla kit is still a work in progress at this point, and hasn't been officially released.
Sorry 15k for the cheap seats and some stickers, they should kill this before it goes into production. The only thing worthwhile on the car is the brakes and exhaust. Really put some effort in to the car not just give it some kid with photo shop to come up with a “car design”. Take the car to the track drive it make it handle better add a diff do something other than slap stickers on it.
The same parts will be available aftermarket and I’m sure you won’t need to spend 15k to get similar results.
a later +300hp tune? Not on the stock turbo they wont...well, maybe/barely to the crank So itll prob be a $5-6k stage one upgrade with a compressor swap, fuel pump upgr, injectors or something... Why noy offer this from the start? And included in the $15k final price?
My guess is ford will def give the the ecu codes so theyll prob have better control over it than anyother tune company but still you can only do so much
Just hydrocarbon. pull yours and send them somewhere to be dipped. Cheap and the same thing shelby charges an arm and leg for.
Only thing thats going to be real carbon fiber is the hood, whenever they get that done.
