PS3 Update Warning

There is a new update out for the PS3 (4.45), and it seems to be bricking consoles. You may want to wait until Sony gives some kind of "all clear" before installing it.

The issue seems to be affecting consoles with upgraded hard drives.

My 1TB PS3 has been bricked from this update. I still have a 320GB PS3, but all my latest save files are on my 1TB. It's been a while since I backed any saves up or uploaded them to the PS+ cloud.

Hopefully they fix it soon. No info since 9:46am yesterday.

Sorry to hear that, I was hoping to save people from this as soon as I saw it. Last I saw, Sony pulled the update and was trying to figure out the issue. Hopefully they can save peoples' consoles. This is a bad look right after the PS4 reveal.

Your saves should automatically save to the cloud if you have PS+, I know mine do. I'm glad I didn't have automatic update on.

If anyone's PS3 got messed up from this update, Sony has posted directions on how to fix it here (click)

If you were able to hold off on the update, it is now safe.

Fixed mine on 6/27, no problems since. First thing I did was go to my game saves and upload a few to the PSN+ Cloud storage. Don't want to lose those!
