dash lights are weak

how can l repair my dash lights, if l move the little wheel back and forth they brighten up then go dim,,does the scroll wheel need replacing and how do you do it,,2003 focus wagon,,,thank you

The "scroll wheel" or light dimmer is simply a rheostat - an adjustable resistor, if you like. It varies the amount of current the lights receive. You replace it with the lighting switch as a complete unit.

Search Youtube for a replacement procedure video. Try something like "Headlight Switch Replacement Ford Focus ZX3"; I've seen one before. (Or buy a Haynes service manual.)
