Need new HU. Suggestions Please.

My Alpine 9805 is taking a dump.

What Head Units are good for SQ? On-board amp not necessary. Other features... I'm open.

I personally love my pioneer, even though it is a couple years old. i love the EQ feature. if i were to get a new HU it would either be a pioneer or a premier.

but thats just my .o2, and everyone has a differnt opinion.

best thing to do is go to your local audio store and listen to and play with the HUs yourself. that way you can tell what you like the best. advice from all of us online is great, but in the end it comes down to personal preferance.

I just ordered my Kenwood KVT-815DVD In Dash DVD player....A little pricey but I got it on ebay for about $800 Plays DVD's, CD's and MP3 and WMA disc's.....its not for everyone but I also got the KNA-DV4100 GPS navigation system cause Ive always wanted one and since my SVTF is used for mostly for road trips it's perfect addition.

Thanks, I would like a list of suggestions to go check out.

Sound Quality is the key factor here, so I'm sure the list is short. Probably no internal amp, high quality d/a conv., etc. I just don't know what is available today.

I've briefly heard about Nakamichi, Denon-made Rockford, Alpine 7xxx series, and the like. I'd like to see the list before I decide on the budget. I have a budget, but if needed I'll save a bit more.

pioneer has a ton of features/controls which should help SQ a lot. nak doesn't have a ton of features but the quality of their products are really good. should be very good SQ. so i'd suggest one of those. but that's just my opinion. your budget will determine a lot though.

I just pulled the Alpine and checked the wiring and connections. It is only playing out of the left side, and earlier it wasn't playing at all until I hit the reset button; but still only left output.

It is a little over a year old. I'll have to have it checked out. If I'm lucky, the pre-outs may still be working and it is just the amp that went bad; of which I can turn off.

In the meantime I'll check out other HU options.

What a bummer. It's so young.

Damn, there goes my amp money.

for SQ def. look at the Pioneer 8600, 13 band eq gives you a lot of control over your sound. i've heard some good things about eclipse too but i've never had any personal experience with them. . .

I found out from Alpine today, they will repair it for $95 with a 90 day warranty. I'll do that for now.

thanks for the replies
