As you know, I asked if anyone had done the truck on a gen 1.5 . Well, my wife bought me a couple of cans of plastidip for my bday, and i was able to do the trunk like I was thinking about and front lower grill.
So, here are some pics of the set up and final photos.
Taping everything off.
Then realizing you don't have to for coat #2
front grill
And the glamor shot
I definitely like the way it turned out. I am such a fan if plasti dip now. Sooner or later, wheels are next.[]
I was just going to do black. I think I'm going to repaint the entire center stack and wings with sterling grey to match the outside paint. Then I'll try the logo again in black or something
I just did my rims today, Black with a VERY VERY light coat of bronze metalizer. I haven't decided if i want to go any heavier on the bronze yet or not. I will say the photo does not give it full justice., the second image is a close up shot before i peeled the excess off the tires.
Question for the dippers:
I'm gonna be redoing my white dipped wheels soon and they are starting to flake and peel in certain spots, and refuse to come completely clean. Underneath the dip is flat black paint. If I peel all the white off and start over, it's gonna take 4+ cans do cover it with white again.
Can/should I just throw more layers on top of the white I've got now? I'm thinking no, since the peeling areas would prevent a nice smooth finish.
I tried that the first time i had chipping and it turned out ugly lol , id recommend peeling before redip , i know pdip makes a repair kit but i dont know how well that works
