Why would you want to go through the hassle of having the nozzle stuck in your tank even if the gas station ends up being liable just because it's their attendants pumping the gas?

Ford needs to publically acknowledge this is a problem and warn their customers. Frankly the capless system sounds absolutely ridiculous. I don't have a vehicle with it and I'm never going to buy one that has. Ford needs to drop this idiotic thing. A standard gas filler cap is cheaper than a Rube Goldburg system manufactured for idiots too stupid to twist the filler cap back on.

Someone else pointed me to this:

wonder when the rest of Ford customers will be notified. I still haven't heard from my dealer.

so now ford should have to babysit each and evey company that has anything to do with cars to make sure they do everything perfectly right so some ass scratcher running a till doesnt dent some unwitting idiots car.
yet everyone expects said cars to stay reasonably priced.
keep preaching to the chior cause the congregation sure as hell aint listening...lol

Hell, I could post pics of some of my toys too, but I'm tired... if you were trying to impress, you missed
Agree 100%. The capless fuel filler is one of the coolest features of the Focus and I am glad Ford is ahead of the curve on this. It only takes a second to look at the gas nozzle tip to see if it has a sleeve.

I am sorry for the damage caused to the OP's car by the gas station attendant. The minute he laid hands on the car, he became responsible for damages in removing the stuck nozzle.

While I agree with you that Ford should have just kept it simple, I just wanted to point out that the system isn't manufactured for "idiots too stupid". It is a security system designed to help reduce fuel theft, and for convenience.

I would be more willing to blame the nozzle manufacturer for not following convention, and having poor manufacturing tolerances.
