How hard wa the escort GT header conversion?. If I find one here in a local junk yard.... which there are plenty of here in Houston should I get it? It sounds like the GT header is one of those "industry secrets" or something! What was the modification done to the header? Also, is it just as good as buying a new after market header?

Heck..... learn me on why you have this part!

Stuff like TB's, intakes, and exhausts don't require and chip changes. Cams, big honkin' MAFs and injectors, nitrous, turbos, ...you know, that requires a chip reprogram. If you don't want a CEl from your header, that delete program is available, too.

As for my header. I have it because I have a simple philosophy: Either I'm going to make it better, or I'm going to break it and have to buy a new one. Simple yet effective. Oh yes, I'm a cheap bastard, too! I mess with my SPI because people say it's a crap motor and not worth the time. I say BS! A guy just dyno'd his Escort with the SPI conversion and 6 psi and was hitting 176hp at the wheels. I say good job! With the power to weight ratio he'll be in the 13's on no time.

I should've taken pics of the header fabrication. It would've made Jesse James proud. I took the header and cut off the 2to1 collector on the end, and then removed another 6" of double tube. Then we lopped the flange off and rewelded the collector on. We had to use part of the cat to get the bend up to the flexpipe, so the cat was trashed. It was really a cut, spot weld, dry fit, cut and retry deal. It only took about three hours from start to finish. What I got in return is a true 4-2-1 header with no cat for about $50.
