Been a long time since I've posted on FF, but I when i got my car there were two manual coupes on the lot, a red base model and a silver fully loaded besides ABS\traction control, and a sunroof... needless to say i got the silver SES 5spd, I got 45k miles on it so far and havent even done brakes lol. I got exhaust intake and tune. My friend has a 10 auto coupe and I can easily pull like 3 cars om him or more lol love the manual
I like vapor silver. I have 42,000 only 5 speed SES with ABS and I too am on my original brakes. I can control my car so much better with the 5 spd. I had a 2001 focus with automatic and had to get brakes at 30k.
I'm on my stock brakes too 85,000 miles having a 5 speed saved the brakes like no ones business, coasting up to lights brakes off at the light and I think led brake lights last longer then if you have a automatic because you dont use them as much.
The story on my car is that the dealership ordered it for a customer. Ford took to long with building the car so he just bought a Mustang off the lot.
The salesmen said at the time, October 2009, Ford was only doing a run of coupes when they had enough orders for them.
On a whim, I stopped by the dealership and saw the car. This was in March 2010.
The salesmen said that no one wanted the car because it was a 5 speed. He also said that the younger folks that actually wanted the car could not get the fincancing.
I told him I had to have it because it was a 5 speed. A few hours later I was driving home in it.
I don’t regret my purchase at all. It’s a fun car. Plus, as I am finding out its fairly rare.
It amazes me that the 5 spd is rare. I have an SES, would a 5 spd be more popular in a S or SE? I bought the SES only for the better suspension set up and the up and down adjustable driver seat. In 08, the 6 way driver seat was exclusive to SES and SEL. Just plain dum.
My main complaint is no rear interior light. So annoying when you are a parent of a little one. Signing off
My ex had a 08 coupe when it first came out and two yrs later (2010) we had a son and not having a light in the rear was annoying I just picked up a 2010 coupe and it has the light in the rear I have a SES 5sp Coupe
Don't be too sad, you have a sterling grey SES coupe which, if I'm not mistaken, is the most 'uncommon' combination for the 2nd gen Focus. As far as I know, the SES coupe colors included a red, a blue, silver, and black. I did not know that the SES coupe could be ordered in Sterling Grey Metallic. (I've never seen one until now)
Just bought a 2010, Black on Black SE with a 5-speed, 24k.
There are stick shifts around this area (WI), but not a lot of them. Had to keep my eyes peeled for a few weeks before one came up that I felt was priced right.
There are currently two 2-door 5-spds for sale in my area; one blue '09, one black '10.
(I went with 4 door for easier backseat access and easier Thule rack connection).
I got a certified preowned 09 SE coupe last May w 40k miles a 5 speed trans. Finding one w manual was a must, especially in a car with such a small engine. I added a weighted shift knob from TWM Performance. Its weighs over a pound and is brushed aluminum with engraved gear pattern. It makes a HUGE difference in shifting performance, so much smoother and effortless. I recommend one for everyone w a manual.

After my 2001 Sentra got totaled, I told my dad the replacement car must have an stick. I tried out a Chevy Cobalt, a Scion TC, and the Focus. The Focus had the best clutch and the best feeling gearbox. And it's what I drove home in
Good choice if I am not mistaken. I have had my 5 spd for over 4.5 years and it is a solid and secure transmission. Love it! Rev over 4k in 1st and 2nd on every occasion. Great ride. Simple.
I bought a silver 2010 SES sedan auto and it was too slow, so I bought a blue 2010 SES sedan manual (52 vin numbers apart) 3 months later. Much better IMO.
I had a friend that was interested in Focuses (I think it would have been better than what he ended up getting ...).
He had me test drive one that was identical to mine, just with an auto. I think it's the electric throttle that makees it feel laggy.
