Do OBX headers require heatwrap?

Do the OBX headers need heat wrap like some other headers? The headers are beautiful and I would hate to cover them up but I don't want my alternator dieing. I have a 2009 manual SE coupe

Yes, OBX needs to be wraped with some thermal tape. You'll fry the alternator running without a thermal tape, it gets very hot.

I haven't had any issues with mine without heat wrap. I check back there often to make sure everything is tight and in place.
A thought from experience though. The header doesn't stay all that pretty after a while. I would just wrap it. Kind of wish I would have wrapped mine before putting it on.

I did both, i wrapped mine AND painted it. Mine still looks as good as it did the day i installed it.

I was worried about my alternator as well

I wrapped mine and the alternator still died . probably wasnt the header's fault though, the alts on the 05-07's seem to be turds. not sure what the story is on the 08+

Seriously =[ . I'm passing 110,000 this month , I'm already upgrading everything, but an Alt is waaay down the road.

maybe a bad batch, ive heard of quite a few going out. I think mine was at 32k-35k. lights and dash lights would flicker occasionally. battery and alt tested fine, replaced that fuseable link everyone talks about and that didnt help. I put a voltage gauge on the car and saw it randomly start swinging low to high low to high at times. bad voltage regulator i guess.

anyway sorry for the paranoia Ive caused and thread jacking lol
