I assume mk3 is current gen model which I heard has lot of automatic tranny issue
I can go for mk 2
Which year model are mk 2?
Are they reliable ?

mk2 are 2008-2011 there very good no timing belt to replace.Nice cars some people prefer the 2000-04 style or the 05-07 Ford start the Duratec engine in 2003 in the Focus so there pretty tried and true.

I think the '13 models are okay. Get a manual if its that big of a concern and plus you will see a little better gas mileage.

In the MK3's the manuals get a little bit less gas mileage then the DCT automatic.

I heard the DCT tranny is very bad, lots of problems..

I've driven a automatic 08 Focus SES since 08. It has never had a problem. I have been very happy with this car's reliability, fuel economy, ride and build quality.
