Vexing Noise Problem
Hello. I have an '06 Focus wagon with an annoying squeak in the rear right suspension that nobody seems to be able to diagnose. Here are all the clues I can give you:
On the highway it sounds like a rapid rubbing of metal on metal and the sound would remind you of a turkey call. When I back off the gas, it gets louder and when I apply the brakes it gets louder still. In city traffic it is pretty much constant, and it's worse going over a bump. Getting in and out of the driver's seat is enough to trigger it. It seem to lessen when the weather is very hot or very wet.
My mechanic, whom I like and trust, can't seem to find the cause. The last attempt was control arms which shut it up for about two days. The shocks and struts on the car are less that a year old.
Has anyone encountered anything like this? Thank you!
