Tire size and lowering

Okay well I have my suspension all done I did the Eibach 2 inch drop and I'm running the stock 15's. What I want to know is I plan on getting the SVT 5 spoke wheels and want to know if it will work with out rubbing. Also will it affect me speed reading? If so doesn't the Xcal 3 have settings for tire and wheel size?

Typically when going from a smaller to larger wheel, you aim to keep the overall diameter of the two the same. You do that by going with a more narrow sidewall, the tire is going to be shorter/lower profile.

So your stock 15's will be 195.60/15 and the 17" svt wheels came with 215.45/17 (205.45/17 works too)
So you will end up changing the overall diameter by less than 2%, not really going to effect things much. A 205 series will be pretty much spot on the same. Also figure that different tire brands will have different tread depths and will also wear out at different rates. So you really shouldnt notice a difference.

Use this to help visualize it and see the difference in wheel/tire sizes

with the 205 tire on 17s with that kit(eibach sport kit) you may need to roll youur fenders to prevent rubbing, it depends on the offset. im not sure the offset on my rims, but i had to roll my fenders to prevent rubbing, good luck

You'll be fine with a 205/45R17. You wont see a noticeable difference in the speedometer. Mine in my car read faster in the first place and still reads faster with that size tire. My brothers read a little fast also. Only a couple MPH high. Either we have the only 2 Foci that read faster or all of our cars are like that.

Yeah I noticed that to I've owned 2 foci and both of them were faster by 1 or 2 mph. I think its just a focus thing.

Also if I get that size will I need to roll my fenders since my tire size is so close to stock?

Honestly do what I did, bought the wheels on check for lock to lock then go for a drive. Mine rubbed so I fixed it till it didn't. Mine just rubbed in the rear. But I'm on 18"s.
