The Mazda 3 is a Mazda platform as much as it is Ford or Volvo, as the German engineering team that designed the C1 was equal in engineering headcount among the three.

Mazda's familia became the escort that replated the pinto. The Probe was a re-bodied Mazda platform when the all Ford product was the Mustang II.

Without Ford, Mazda may have gone under, but the Mazda engineers are and were better than Ford engineers imho. Mazda has it's issues, but I would replace the crapotastic shifting of the DCT with a skyactive 6 auto in a heartbeat.

I agree. Perhaps he doesn't want to try a different dealer, or even attempt to escalate through Ford customer service for a more complete servicing.

They won't. Mazda doesn't have the sales or those "amazing" new age cars on their lot. If they ever sever the ties they will stay alive for maybe a year 2 the most if they don't get their act together.

Yeah they always had a hard time selling a decent amount of Mazda 6 vehicles as compared to other cars in the same class.........

IDK... Mazda's SkyActiv tech is formidable. Fuel economy for the SA Mazda 3 is much higher than a similar cost Focus. Mazda will try new stuff- like the Wankel when it was new and Miller cycle engines. SkyActiv is not new, it's just something that nobody could do before computer controls and GDI. I hope it works out for them. I'd like to see them try some of these techs that seem to have passed by the wayside but would improve vehicular efficiency- like the rotating valve, or a completely different engine design. Mazda didn't seem to be doing that sort of stuff when Ford was in control, and it's a shame. More power to them. At least they don't try stupid part change ups like Ford did with the 2 piece spark plugs.
