I'm VERY interested in purchasing Magnaflow's exhaust system for my SEL, but I wanted to get a little more info on it before throwing down the $$$. So far the only FF member I've seen with the actual Magnaflow system (non-custom) is VH5150, and he was even nice enough to post up a decent write-up with detailed pictures. Here's the link:
With that said, I'd like to ask anyone with this particular system to please post up with their experiences with it. If you happen to have any videos or photos to post up, as well, that'd be even better! [race] From what I've heard from the Magnaflow website, I really love how this exhaust sounds, but I was hoping to hear a few other clips from the FF community to really sway my decision. [woot]
This has been covered before. But, the sedan is physically longer than the hatchback so the exhaust tip portion of the exhaust is longer for the sedan.
Glad to hear that you like it! I freakin' LOVE your wheels btw!! Are they Mustang rims?? Oh, and is that an ST rear spoiler, or an aftermarket version? If it's the latter would you mind saying where you got it from? Sorry for all the questions; it's just that I really like what you've done with your Focus.
The email claims the promotion to run through April 30, 2013. And I did not see part# 15072 in the list of Magnaflow products that were under the promotion, but after chatting to a cust. service rep I informed him that the part was a magnaflow product and that it was sold and shipped by amazon so the promotion should apply to it. So he applied the discount. No hassle.
Anyone know the dimensions of a straight piece of pipe that I would need to replace the resonator with? I didn't measure my system before I had it installed. Anyone know cheap places to get SS pipe? Is it okay to weld two different alloys of SS together? (the system uses 409 according to a Magnaflow sales rep).
I'm happy to say that my car is in the shop Right now getting
a custom exhaust put on right now. He put it up in the air so can
Talk about what size of tube to go with. From the cat to the first
Resonator it's 2.25 then gos to 2.0 all the way to the muffler. I'm
Taking both resonators off and going 2.25 to a Magnaflow muffler.
This is my first performance mod being done to the car. So I'm little
Excited lol
Would be loud as hell, you could use it with minor modification to the hangers to header. But you would want to add an extra resonator to quiet it down.
Did anyone end up painting there magnaflow exhaust system? I noticed the cleveland winter wasn't too kind as far as rust goes to my OEM setup, so I've been toying with the idea of painting it with some high temp paint to fight rust and also make it less obvious where it hangs down from the stock locations.
There's no need to paint the stainless steel system. All your higher end cars use stainless due to the salt sand & ash from treating the roads for winter weather. That stainless steel exhaust will outlast the car.
Is autoanything still the best price for the magnaflow exhaust? Also, what coupon code gives you the 15% off at autoanything. I tried RMN15 but it did not work.
EDIT: Just read through the restrictions. Looks like you can't use a coupon code on magnaflow products. Anyone know of a better price then 620 shipped? That seems to be the best price I can find.
Alternatively, contact customer support. They weren't running the 15% off for new customers when I ordered my K&N Intake, so I just asked if they were going to run it again. The representative just gave me the discount then. It may be worth trying it on the exhaust. Just state that you're willing to buy now if it can be done.
Also, at $493 I feel the exhaust was a bit pricey. at $657 it seems to me to be not that economical. I really like the seemingly increased power without drastic volume change, but that's a lot of money for a few steel tubes.
I hate to bump such an old thread, but I tried installing this exhaust today and I can't seem to get the midpipe over the rear axle. I tried it multiple times from both directions but no luck. Does anyone have any insight into this?
Just my opinion, but I'm not loving my 15072 system.
Maybe all cat-backs on tiny 4-bangers are like this, but I'm not loving the amount of bassy hum from this unit. Around town, it's mostly good. Idle sounds nice too.
It's a different story at highway speeds. It's not really droning, per se, but when I'm on the gas at ~2-3k rpm, the bass fills the cabin anytime I apply the gas, even modestly. Part of the problem is that this engine has such little power that it's really struggling to increase speed once it's above 50mph or so. I've checked the clamp torque and listened for leaks, and it doesn't appear that anything is wrong.
Based on the noise, I'd say it's mostly the first muffler in the tunnel that's making the unpleasant tone. Anyone know if I can order that Ford part alone? I'd effectively be going backwards to an axle-back system, but at least I'd fix the noise.
Had to ditch my RS open airbox cover because it had terrible synergy with the 15072 unit. The boominess they both bring to the table was just too much to have happening all at once.
Not sure what's up. I have the Magnaflow catback with Steeda intake and there is no forward muffler. Just the cat. I also have Tom's Tune. Plenty of power and quick response up to 80 MPH. Sounds good. Runs good. No excessive drone or bass. I'm old and sounds good to me. Most the younger guys on here want it louder. Magnaflow sounds pretty sweet to me.
Yeah it's definitely possible to have an exhaust that's only loud when you want it to be.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
