I believe the reason you are not getting enough good replies is that the sun roof is not that common of an option

The very best course of action that you should do is to purchase on Ebay both the workshop and wiring manuals use this in Ebay search "Ford Focus 2002 Workshop manual"
There is a set for ~$60.00

I have had issues with my sunroof but not quite like this. I had to constantly use the relearn function on my car. After a while I got tired of it closed the sunroof and disconnected the switch. Haven't had an issue since then and I don't really miss the sunroof.

Hmm do make a valid point. Was looking at a few Zx3. Few I mean about 15 of them and only two had the sunroof option. I'll see what I can find regarding the manual, thanks!

Disconnecting it altogether is what I had in mind. I can always open the slider if I want some sunlight but having it fully open it's a issue.

Maybe I'll drive through a hood and yell "Brace yourself fooool!" and lay on the sunroof button!

Most sunroof issues are things getting caught in the track, but it sounds like yours is slipping teeth. I don't have a mechanical breakdown of the sunroof, and I don't know how Ford sells parts for it. I'm going to go look.

I checked Ford parts.com, and I can't find anything on the sunroof. I would suggest that you ask Village Ford. They sell us parts at a discounted price, and perhaps the sales rep, Andy, can help you.

I would remove the motor to force the roof to close. That will probably help you figure out how the sunroof works. I have a sunroof, but my problems have always been simple like nuts getting caught in the track and preventing it from closing.

Having a few nuts in the track happen a few times but I'll poke around with the motor and see what I can achieve. I noticed in the video. When I show the motor, it seems that middle nut (allen wrench) spins when pressing the trigger. I have to go into town here in a few minutes anyhow. Maybe a ford dealership would have a better estimate of "may" be the issue. I might as well pick up the tool to take the sun roof bolts out as well.

LOL sorry about the 2 year old and his/her parents!
