Um...wut?

The Ti handling pack will get you disc brakes. No doubt about it.

My interpretation of the 2014 brochure implies that the Ti level itself, does not include disc brakes.

You've misinterpreted the option list.

The SE "Sport" package includes discs as does the "SE Appearance" package.

Ti levels include discs standard.

I suppose that if you are not going to put many miles on your Focus the automatic would be okay . I have just replaced mine after travelling 160,000 km . The driving I do is all highway and as of now I haven't even done the brakes yet .

Veejay, sorry to hear about your medical problems affecting you driving. Did you think about an Acura ILX as an alternative to a Civic auto? Honestly, the only reason I considered the Focus was because it was available with the manual. My Zipcar Focuses experiences weren't as positive- lots of clunks and jerks, but it was a great chassis and handled well.

Acura ILX is a huge waste of money, IMO.

"Luxury Compact" is an oxymoron.

Considering the OP is coming from a Civic Si, I think the ILX would make a good option since it's more powerful than the Civic and around the similar price.

Also, I'm not sure what you're driving, but I'd consider a Focus Titanium a luxurious compact . (No offense meant)
