Check the post dates guys, zukster posted an addendum to a thread from '08 - it's likely solved by now...

Sailor,

Is there some way you can prevent anyone from reviving a thread that's over a year old?

We don't want to do that. When people are working on their cars they search Google and then come across these posts. This thread helped me out a lot so I added extra information to it for the next person that searches in Google who has the same problem.

Yup - IMHO zukster added some useful info. to the thread, that may help someone else in the future.

Can't make every useful thread a "stickie", to keep that list short enough to be useful it's primarily for regularly used "how to" type threads - and STILL can't include all the useful ones.

"Closing" a thread is the only way to prevent additional posts to old ones, seldom used since that makes changes & addendum's difficult.

Posting to an old thread is only a PITA IMO when someone adds a new question, and then mainly because it won't get the same attention for that person a "new" thread for their exact issue would.

Cheers!

The way around too many stickies is to have 1 stickie under each forum/sub-forum that has descriptions and links to important/useful threads..........
