I thought what Zeeco did with the Zetec was pretty awesome when they went 10.19 at like 144 or something and said they had the fastest FWD Focus in the world last year, but this guy, Shaun Carlson, built a drag focus way back in 2000 and ran 8.53.

Here's an article on the focus before he made that pass with some info about it. Pretty cool read.

Yep,the good 'ol days;it's nice to see people posting some significant cars from the evolution of import/sport compact drag racing. I have a bunch of the old Sport Compact and Turbo magazines and several had features on Carlson and several of his cars.

i consider it the fastest focus in the world but not the fastest street legal focus. i dont consider something like that counting. a stock focus that is gutted with a roll cage with a really powerful motor on slicks i would say counts so long as it can have some street tires thrown on it and it can then "pass" inspection.

no doubt that was a badass car but i say it doesnt really count. something like this is what i would consider the fastest focus in the world if only it was a focus instead of a fiesta with a zetec.

that same car has gone faster since but i think this video was the fastest he went before going to a full fiberglass body and throwing drag bars on the back. i think at that point it starts blurring the line of my counting and not counting rule. actually now that i look at it im not sure if its a fiberglass body or not.

he has a rwd zetec powered full on drag car that i think he is going to start running this year. video of it from last october testing at the track. apparently this thing is going to rev like a sonofabitch because it is LIMITED to 8000rpm and he was being easy with it just to see what it was going to do. this one will get in the 8s easily and dare i say it might get close to 7s if my gut is right. it looks NAAASTY.

From the sounds of the article it was a carbon fiber body. I don't care if it was street legal or not, its a drag ford focus and did an 8 second pass. Fastest FWD focus. Lol there's a different record for fastest "street legal" focus. The fastest zetec and mtx75 powered focus is Zeeco's 10.09. Their rwd zetec focus does 9's as well. I'm not sure if their FWD focus is street legal or not as they built it to drag.

If the rwd focus focusmaniac posted slides into the 8's, Zeeco will have something up their sleeve to push their rwd even faster.

Tube chassic = No care. badass car but if it aint in a factory shell idc.

just FYI neither of the cars i posted youtube links to are a focus. the FWD is a fiesta and im not sure WTF the rwd one is. however they are both powered by a zetec.

i think that second thing that was rwd was at one point an old escort. pretty much doesnt matter what fiber glass shell was on it though. its a tube chassis car.

still very impressive what they have done with a zetec. why doesnt any one have their zetec focus running like that... pick it up guys lol

So there's video and pictures of a full frame focus, minus flares for slicks, going 10.09.

"Yep it definitely can't be done. Totally impossible. It's just a focus right?"

I will go find both videos of the full frame fwd foci going 10.19 a few years ago and the one last fall going 10.09.

Here ya go big guy.

10.19 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtgD_uUE3zA

10.09 - http://www.dragtimes.com/Ford-Focus-Timeslip-22253.html

Here are some pics of the focus that ran the 10.09. For some reason they do not have the video up any more. They were talking about going into the 9's so that may be the reason but whatever.

The 10.19 video is a guy from Puerto Rico, see post 20 where I put this same video. Crankshaft has broken 3 times and has been out for more than 2 years now, it ran with a welded differential no LSD.
Did you changed your mind about the fiberglass and tunbular chassis "focus"?

Joe with the Focus wagon ran 9`s didnt he ? altho it was with the 2.3 lima engine was still a focus
Enough money , time and know how and anything can be done

He would only need to loose 1 sec off my 10.95 times I did on DOT tires , slicks would drop that a good bit , take out some weight and with enough money spent $20,000+ I can see it happening

holly hell thats an awesome focus. it says on the page its still running an mtx75 and a 40 shot. 144 trap...

joe morgan's focus or what was his focus was a 1k hp 2.8l esslinger sohc motor with 9" rearend and he was running 8.32 at 161. it has been taken apart and no longer exists... but just as much a focus as my turbo lsx focus was lol
