Oil in coolant

I have a 2005 Focus with Duratec. I'm wondering if there is any place "other than" the head gasket where oil could get into the coolant system ? Any help appreciated. Thx

You didn't mention the transmission type by the way.

Most automatics have a transmission oil cooler that runs through the radiator, and I've seen that give up & mix oil/coolant before.

(First thought!)

what sailor said, and a cracked head could leak oil and coolant, however this is rather unlikely, but it does happen...

Great thanks. Does anyone know what the valve on the backside of the engine is. Sits next to exhaust manifold and has a large 1" steel tube running off it to the oil pan I think.

Plus, it just might be that the head gasket is starting to blow.

I believe the radiator is to blame here, compression check was good. I'm going to change the radiator as the car is an automatic with trans cooler. The car has been babied since new with nothing but the best oils and fluids with changes sooner than recommended. I guess anything is possible, but I'm betting the radiator fixes my issue. Thanks

Double check the trans. for coolant, you don't want a "mix" in there either!

Luck!

If enough oil you can tell what type, red ATF or engine oil.

You can crack a block or head in many places and not affect compression.
