My area runs a slush series all winter long, and the last one a week ago actually was pretty miserable. We had a bunch of snow that started to melt, but then it all froze up the night before the event so badly that it was hard to walk without slipping and falling. We couldnt have workers on course, so we ran exhibition runs for the morning with no time and no one to chase cones. By lunch, the driving line was mostly thawed. After 1 hour of lunchtime shoveling by 10 volunteers, we had a wide driving line and could continue with the timed event.
We had the finale of this years autox season this past weekend. We do a shootout style to determined the overall champion for our region. Start with 16 drivers and after 2 runs you keep your fastest time and the top half move on to the next round. I ended up getting 3rd and my tire warmer knocked me out and got 2nd.
The Chicago Region SCCA Solo season has ended [bigcry] and I closed out the season strong [strongman]. These two events moved me from fourth to third in class for the season. I missed second by 1.01 points [] Next season that Region class champ jacket is mine [thumb].
Former ST National Champ and current STC bride's maid Jason Frank broke his hub/axle so he jumped in my CRX and showed me how hard you can drive a 22 year old Honda.
His 1.1 second margin is much more obvious from the exterior.
My best run from the second day.
As much as I love the CRX, I will always love and miss racing my Focus. Once I get it de-turbo'd and back to DD duty I'll have to take it out just for fun in FSP. [ffrocks]
Here is a little track-day action at Road America from the Milwaukee Region PDX "Drive for Babies" for the March of Dimes. I was an instructor, but got a couple of sessions of track time in the afternoon. Went out with the "second fastest" run group. Did not have a full "fast" lap, but it was still fun.
Car is a 2000 ZX2 recently converted to FSP specs from ST. Motor is still ST spec, wheels are 15x9, tires Hankook 225/45-15 RS3, Aluminum flywheel, stage 2 clutch.
One last go around before my CRX goes into hibernation. So I drove 3 hours to central IL to have some fun. Mid to upper 60s and sun in mid-November in IL is cause to celebrate. That and my first overall PAX win!
Great photos, Ray. I recognized at least a couple cars from Nats.
I've got one more video of the year that I just uploaded because I finally found my GoPro cable. So this was my first of the cold day, and it turned out to be my fastest because it rained right after. First runs are always squirly, and this run has, what I think, is the best slide I've had in the Focus, to date. This was the final event of our WWSCC series, and the top spot in PAX was basically up for grabs with this final race between four of us, and I was sitting in third to start the day. Unfortunately, I was single driving, so I had one cold tire run, so I couldn't stay with the dual drivers, as the second drivers had warmer tires. So I ended up 3rd for WWSCC, 3rd for BSCC, and 7th (bleh) for NWRSCCA, all running in PAX class.
