turn signal switch

Sooo, I pulled off my turn signal switch yesterday to find out why it isn't automatically shutting off when i turn right, then back straight again. I tried two brand new switches, and it still is doing the same thing. Is there something possibly wrong with the wiring or the steering wheel itself? I noticed when I looked at it, the steering wheel has an area where the little latch on the switch is supposed to go, but for some reason, the switch won't release itself when I straighten up from turning right. I went to Autozone and tried two different brand new switches....still the same thing.
Could this also affect my high beams still not turning on?

No practical experience with this problem myself, but if it's not the removable switch, then the turn cancelling mechanism, which is integrated into the clockspring, likley needs replacement. Ford part number # YS4Z14A664CA - less than $50.
Yes, to your second question.

Thanks! Guess i will be saving for this part as i still have to replace my headlight and fender from the accident. Can i buy this part at a regular auto parts store or is it something only the dealer would carry?

I was doing a search for this part on ebay, and none of the ebay parts show that this part number is compatible with my 05 ZX4 ST.....it states 'not compatible with specified car'... My ZX4 ST 2005. Is there a different part #?
