Yes, I have commented this before, but I want to stress how lucky we are to hVe a 2008-2011 focus. I have a 5spdand it rocks,no problemsat all. I have been focused since Dec 1999 and I know what it feels to be a Focus owner. I had a 2000 Zx3 and I loved it,but the trans was funky and i traded iit in for a 2001 auto Zx3 and it was greTe for 8 years, but I returned for a 5spd 2008 sedan SES and it has been rock steady. I read the 2012 + models issues and they have nothing but problems. The press and the public hated our 2008+ models, truly, but screw them, we have proved ours our the best Focus ever. I love my Focus even though it is stock. Show your love and reply!![thumb]
I love my car but I think I would love a new one even more.
The one I'd have (SE Sport, 5spd, no MFT) doesn't have any major issues so I'm not too concerned about it.
The 2012+ are years ahead of ours as far as build quality and materials go. I'd have one in a heartbeat but I don't "need" one so its difficult to justify buying one right now.
In the mean time, I love my 2nd gen. Its a blast to drive and everyone seems to enjoy riding in it when we go places.
I married into an '09 and it was a nice reliable 30mpg (no matter how we drove) car but the excitement level was tepid at best so it was nice to trade it in on our '12 SE and it's a completely different driving experience with the MKIII. Problems? Most of them are associated with the DCT and the MFT system which we have neither.
We had 32k on the car when we traded it in and got almost $11k for it and not one problem with it.
I like my 2008, haven't had any problems with it other than the manual trans not liking to shift into 2nd gear!
It's been a good car to me. Can't complain on the gas mileage. I wouldn't have any of the common problems with a '12 or '13 as I'd only get the S model with 5 speed ... it has everything I need in a car.
The S is extremely spartan and no rear discs which is a must in my book. The '12 SE 5 speed with the sport package (sport seats, discs, alloys, leather wrapped wheel/shifter for $810) was the one to get if you wanted to avoid the majority of the issues but still had plenty of goodies to keep up with the Jonses.
I looked at and drove a couple SELS and Ti models and the only big diffs on the higher models were just stuff like softer dash meterials,a little silver trim on the inside and out and a selection of colored LED choices.
i've been happy overall with my 09. about 84k on it and no issues other that the clutch return spring breaking. not my fav car that i've owned though, but still worth buying. just wish it was a hatch.
