Are the ST engines the same as the Fusion ecoboost?

The ST is rated at 252hp/270tq while the ecoboost Fusion is rated at 240hp/270tq. They're both 2.0l Turbo's. Is the ST just mildly tuned different? Would mods on the ST work for the fusion? What about programmers (like the sct/diablosport)?

Reason I ask is because I'm in the market for a 2.0 ecoboost Fusion, and that'd be awesome if I could use the same mods/programmers as the ST.

The engine is similar, but the programming and intake/ exhaust are different for the different applications. Its not necessarily good for it to throw the same tune, especially when the ST is a 6MT only and the Fusion is a 6F35 automatic only. Some of the engine mods like an air intake may work fine, but the exhaust, or other power train modifications won't fit the different body.

TL:DR The short answer is no, most things won't work on the Fusion as far as programming, exhaust mods, motor mounts, etc.

right on. thanks. Wasn't sure since some other car companies have the same engine in different cars (i.e. neon srt-4 and pt cruiser turbo).

The engine block is likely identical, but the exhaust routing and transmission differences make it necessary to tune specifically for the specific platform, as this engine is being put in everything from the Focus ST all the way up to the Taurus and Explorer, so while it may fit in various vehicles the little ancillary details make each application unique.
