I'm on my third rear wiper motor in as many years of having the car...is it just me, or is this a serious design flaw? From the one that just stopped working, it appears that water works its way down the shaft and corrodes the housing, which either fuses the shaft to the housing or the water is making it into the transmission and seizing it. The only way Ford prevents water from working its way into the car is with a small o-ring and a washer, which are obviously not up to the task. Anyone else have this problem?
Oh yes, on my 00 focus with 220kmiles on it I have removed the shaft (tapped it out) sanded it with 800grade & regreased it (MOS grease seems to work for quite a while) A new motor costs 300USD in Norway.... So thats why I keep on doing this.
yea mike i took your insight and took it off about three months ago[drinking] i really did it more for thr weight saving i think that lil motor weighs 3-5 lbs easy, but now the rear looks much better [thumb]
