I would most definately buy an RS if available the opportunity. If I did I would keep the ZX3 and use it for Circuit racing and my daily would be the RS. Then again they say the Cosworth is a bit better if u post the Cosworth specs I could make a solid decision.
You idiots the rs and the cosworth are great cars and ford is stupid not to bring them to America and you ******s why the hell would you pick a 350z over an rs or cosworth. And yes i would pay 25-30 gs for one of those cars especially the cosworth. And no offense but the 350z sucks buy a g35.
Really? It's amazing how many people don't seem to like the 350Z....my dad and I drove it (just to compare it to his 300ZX), and we thought it was a blast. Oh well, everyone has an opinion.
I would pay $30,000 for the Cosworth because it looks better than an Evo and Sti (which are overpriced to begin with). I wish Mazda still made RX7s because I had one and now I want one again because the acceleration in that car is uncomparable to Sti or Evo or SRT4 or 350Z. I have yet to drive a Supra TT, but for now, RX7 R1 is the best sports car for your dollars!!!

I would be in for a Cosy with FWD and 230 hp for $22,000 If they offered it. Why that price? Because if the SRT-4 can sell at $20k with 230+hp FWD and the WRX can sell at $23k with 225hp and AWD the Cosy would have to be in that ball park. Even if they added AWD and a couple more ponies, I would not even think about a $26K Focus.
Cheers.
Tim
I was reading the article on a website that they are bringing it back and I also was on the RX-7 club about this info. The article says that the factory in Japan will bring it back with the same chassis as the RX-8. The shape will be the back end of the RX-7 and little bit of the front of the RX-8, so no pop up lights. The RX-7 will come with a convert. a year or two after the release. The starting price will be around $35K. The engine will be the Renisis 3 Rotoray Twin-Turbo for the more expensive version(don't know the price for that though) and estimated HP around 300 to 350 and don't know the torq though. The starting price is for the 2 Rotoray Renisis engine.
Ford will NEVER do it! The SVT was a test to see if there actually was a market for american sport compacts, and look they arent even making another SVT version. They'd never ever be able to sell it, not enough buyers and too wide of a market range. They are looking out for themselves first and foremost before they start cattering to ever customers request. They have to stay competive in every aspect of the larger market range before they will begin to make performance cars because thats probably their smallest money maker, they do it when they can afford it, and Ford is looking to make better economy cars and trucks.
That's where I disagree. I think Chevy is still stuck on the econocar/trucks market more than Ford is. Only recently has General Motors started builded a variety of brand new cars. For example, they have finally started making more of their engines OHC/DOHC instead of using ancient technology and building relatively large engines (for the cars--i.e-3.8 L in a midsize car like the Grand Prix).
Ford is diversitizing their lineup. It varies from all performance (like the GT) or more practical (but still extremely nice) like the new F150. If Ford can sell the RS in Europe, they can sell it here. Japan has been doing it for decades now (think the original 240Z). Even looking at todays popular 'tuner' cars, they sell like crazy and many are by no means 'economy cars.'
Yeah why is this a DUMB thread? I think it's actually pretty good. Been here for a while but nonetheless it's still good.
I think MISVTfocus has a point. The SVTF was a test to see how the American public would react to such a car from Ford. Unfortunately we all know what happened, and Ford knows it better than us. They would be gambling if they were to put out either the RS or Cossie over here.
Why not make the Cosworth or the RS available as a special order package? You know that "somebody" would want to purchase the car...I would love to have a Cosworth Focus. No doubt, if I really wanted one bad enough, I could import it from Europe. But how expensive would that be?
I think this thread is stupid because it's all based on what people "think" is going on (including me) and there can be nothing posted on what is "really" the truth unless it comes from a Ford Rep.
isnt that what ne debate is about...goodgrief, freakin presidential debates are just what each other think, not neciss. whats gonna happen or not. I agree with Paposwing, if they can have a saleen focus and people buy it then they can do the rs and cosworth...the srt4 is prety popular and i think the rs would be just as good

The Focus SVT was developed because there is a market for a domestic SPORT Compact. It was designed to target young kids but attracted a very wide age range of consumers. By no means was it a test. BTW smart guy, SVT isn't making any present model SVT. They feel, and I can almost quote them on this, that a vehicle that carries the SVT badge should exemplify exactly what the name implies "SPECIAL VEHICLE TEAM". So with that said, SVT will be developing vehicles that are UNIQUE from the market and don't resemble production vehicles as much.
As for the RS and COSWORTH. It's a pipe dream. Enough said.
SVT may not currently be making any vehicles, but the new Mustang Cobra should be here sometime next year right? (or am I wrong...I read when it was coming, but forgot)
No you are correct. But the SVT Cobra is a "unique" vehicle.
I guess it's open to interpretation. Maybe what they meant to say was that they weren't going to be making POS's like the SVT Focus that has a tendency to see the shop floor more than the street. Of course that's a biased opinion so take it for what it's worth.
