The SVT competes with the SRT 4. The srt4 isn't in a different class because its faster. Its in the same class because it handles like a turd. The RS wouldn't compete with the SRT4, it would be in a different class and it would cost more. I don't think the RS would do very well because it doesn't have ******* appeal (its quarter mile-to-price ratio isn't very good). However I think the Cosworth would do awesome because it would dominate the EVO & STI. The Cos has more power than the EVO & STI so I think it would be a winner.
I'd pay $24,000 for an RS & $33,000 for a Cosworth.
nah i say forget them both, Ford North America needs to come out w/ something decent, maybe an AWD version of the 2.3 w/o all the Pzev stuff and a decent factory turbo, though a FWD version of this would be nice as well, but more than likely i would put my mony on a new SVT style supercharged 2.3, seeing as how the 2.0 is getting the axe
god i love that freakin car.. i would pay over 22k for it.. i mean the neon has about the same specs.. and its at 19k.. come on ford you can DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
forget the 350Z get a G35 coupe you got a backseat and the same everything else virtually suspension brakes tranny engine, and they look a hell of a lot better
I voted no. Ford waited (and is still waiting) too long to introduce anything like this. I already bought an SVT, and have to pay that off. If they come out with an RS or something like it, I doubt I will want to go through the trouble needed to get rid of my car and get one. Now, if I had no car payments and was still driving old 'blacky' (my MR2) I would consider an RS if it fell in the 20-25k range, which it is unlikely to do, if it ever comes over here.
i dont know if id consider buying an rs out here... i love the car and all but id be in a wrx or evo before mid 20k fwd turbo car. i like awd a whole lot. and i agree with mofo. an awd 2.3l turbo. making about 220-240 hp would treat me nicely.
id pay mid 20s for something in that hp range.... get it close to 300 and awd still id be willing to pay around 30k.
hmmm........21k (This would put the RS and the Cossie in the middle of the market) for RS and 24K for an AWD. Ford needs to go the extra mile and make it a point to offer Domestics cheaper than the Imports (WRX, EVO)........It's an image issue at this point like Audi had a several years ago after the stories spread about their build quality IMHO.
Moving upscale and completly out of the Neon SRT-4 (although I drove one last week VERY hard and liked the factory LSD very much in the 04) range should be Ford's plan of action. Ford needs to stop leaving us out of the fun (See MKI - MKIV Escort Cosworth RS for example) like they have done for so long.................... Bring it.........and we will come
Problem is..........where did the FR200 go along with all those Ford Racing prototype parts? For that matter..............why does Ford seem to tease us only to abandon the effort just as it is about to gain some steam? See the Meguiar's Drag Focus...........this is a GREAT example
$200k for a car that only goes 13.5 in the 1/4 mile? Bish please!!!! I would never spend that much money on a car that slow. Money should equal hp!!!! And for the money that you buy your Foci (base or SVT) for, we definitely got the hp with it, for what it's worth.
Just my .02 cents.
