Ford GT fuel pump in 2002 ZX3 questions

okay so ive been looking for options on what can be done to help with fuel before going to a return style setup... there has to be ways it can be done i dont see why it couldnt be..

what ive come to is the SVTF fuel pump and the Ford GT fuel pump

ive read that some people say the ford gt fuel pump works and some say it dosnt

dose anyone have any legit input on this thats current all the threads i had been reading were from like 2004-2007 so there has to be some more knowledge when it comes to this now.. i want to be able to make 450whp on my car without having to completely changing to return style setup cause i wouldnt know were to start if i was going to do it and a 200$ fuel pump IMHO seems alot better then spending a 1000$ on a return setup


my car now
bottom end
low comp supertech pistons
eagle rods
ARP mains heads cam flywheel studs

DiabloMAFia in a 3" maf tube

Kenni-Bell BAP on stock pump

siemens deka 80lb INJ

turbonetics super 60 turbo..
(have a precision 6031 for when i figure this fuel thing out)

Here is my datalogs showing the stock pump vs the gt pump.

The stock pump is pegged at 5500rpm @ 18psi



The GT pump doesn't peg until 7000rpm



With a boost a pump and an upgraded fuel pump driver to handle the current im sure it would get you close.

Just looked over one of my recent logs.

When I hit over 0.42 DC on the pump, pressure starts dropping. PW's go way up also.
The car doesn't lean a bit though, actually I can go richer if I want.

I thought most of that could be taken care of with the FP Voltage table (which it seems like I'm one of the only people who plays with that table).

I know I'd thought my pump was maxed while back, because things would flatline. I played with the voltage table and it got much better. IIRC the FPDM can drive up to 16 volts. I'm only doing 12.5 right now but have seen up to 14.6.

From my car, that'd mean the update pump is only good for ~230whp on gas. Which means most of the S/C guys would need a bigger pump. But I haven't seen them replacing pumps right and left.

Honestly I think there's more in the pump than most think. It's just a matter of learning how to control it properly.

I'm saying that no matter what pump you run, you have to tune for it. It's not a simple drop in and go, with returnless.

The stock pump might be able to do much more than people think. But I wouldn't feel comfortable pushing it that far. A little hiccup and you just lost an engine. The risk isn't worth it.

IIRC the update pump is 192 L/hr, which should be good for upwards of 350 hp.
SVT is something like 235 L/hr which would get you 450+.

But everything depends on how efficient the engine is, BSFC. If you're dumping fuel and it's not being burnt then you need more pump. The goal is the lowest BSFC with the highest power.
Turbo generally has a higher BSFC than N/A simply due to lower compression.


Basically, SVT pump no matter what. Just keep in mind that you can tune the pump and get it to function better.
