Transmission issue?

Hey guys... so I bought my car used about a year and a half ago. Every once in awhile my car kinda "bucked" I guess is the word, when driving it would feel like it slipped into neutral for a split second. Anyway, the car is still under the Ford powertrain warranty until 60K miles, which I am only 700 miles away from. I called Ford dealership and they said they could connect it to "the computer" and run a test on it, the test costs $80. If it's the transmission, they will reimburse the $80, if it's something else that is not covered under the warranty, I'd have to pay the $80. I'm the DIY kind of guy but I've never done anything with cars and just stumbled on this forum today. Does anyone know if this is something where I can buy my own testing equipment and just do the test myself? I've been reading on here and it seems people are talking about OBD II readers?

What year Focus? 2012 on up are know for transmission issues. Take it in and let them figure it out. If your out $80 nbd. In the end if its a large repair it is covered if they do it.

Hi M00001,

I'd like to put you in touch with your regional customer service manager, who'll work with you and your dealer to come to a resolution. Please send me a PM with your full name, best daytime contact phone number, and VIN; I'll take it from there.

Todd

Howdy FocusNovice420,

Have you been to your dealer for diagnosis of this concern? They're in the best position to assist.

Let me know what the techs. say, and we'll look into next steps (if needed).

Todd

Well Todd, that was kind of pointless. The regional customer service manager called, but she told me everything I already knew (that the test would be $80 and it'll be free if it's the transmission, but otherwise it won't be)

Anyway, I guess I'll take it in next week.

Hi M00001,

Thank you for providing me with an update. Please PM the date and time of your appointment; I'd like to pass it along to your CSM, who will then look into next steps.

Have a great weekend.

Todd
