Auto-x Helmet question

The only helmet I have is a HJC Moto-x helmet that is about 4-5 years old. It is in great shape and has never hit the ground. Would they let me run with that?

Yeah. You don't need to meet any real helmet regs till you get to Club Racing level.

Then I should be good to go....I know it's snell 95 approved.

Yep. Snell 95 or newer.
Either M (motorcycle) or SA (severe application) rating.
From the rule book:

Quote:

4.3.1 Helmets
Helmets meeting the following standards must be worn while on course:
All helmets meeting the current or two immediately preceding Snell Foundation standards
(SA, K, or M), or SFI standards 31.1A, 31.2A, 41.1A, or 41.2A are acceptable.
FIA approved helmets which are acceptable for use in Rally events are acceptable for Solo II events.

NOTE!
Next year, the requirement will be moved up to Snell 2000.

On the topic of helmets, whats the price range for a snell 95 helmet. Iwas looking at racing helmets and alot of them were going for 700-1000 dollars. I won't ever pay that much for helmet. Are there any cheaper?

Good Lord....you don't need to pay that much!

I paid $80-$90 for mine at a local motorcycle/atv store.
HJC CL-31. Snell M-2000 rating.
