What gains are you seeing with a shorty header and other mods?

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if I should keep this shorty header I have and use it.. I'd have to fabricate a downpipe for it since I have a ZX2.
First off, what are you modded zetec guys experiencing with a shorty header and a HFC or ORP? I already have a 2.5" exhaust and Iceman intake, so any header would benefit.. I'm just wondering if a shorty w/orp would be relatively close to the same in performance as a Kamikaze 4-2-1.. (technically about the same design). I don't have any education in flow, so if you feel my logic is off, please constructively help me understand.

Thanks,
Aaron

kamakazi will prolly flow better, but you'll see a 3-4 whp gain w/ the shorty and HFC

i would go with a race header as you will get more high end HP and some low tq. the shorty headers keep good low but dont flw as well up high

^^^^ Actually LONG tube headers give you down low (and up top as well)

Shorty headers are pretty.... but do almost NOTHING for performance.

well ill soon post some pics up off my "long" 4-1 types and a video clip...

pipercross panel filter, 4-1 with decat downpipe, 2.25 mid section all thru to a 3.5 inch backbox so hopefully should sound nicer...not ricer

i thought true long tubes gave just a little down low but shorty with HFC gave better down low but lesss up top and the SVt was best of both worlds lol

U.K 1.8 (virtually the same as the U.S 2.0 but smaller capacity)

Standard - 115bhp and 114lb/ft.

OBX shorty and Miltek exhaust - 120bhp and 126lb/ft on a very reliable dyno.

Shorties are supposed to give more power at high revs than long tubes, I've not seen anything to confirm that though.

go long tube!!!! shorty will not out flow them. it is simple physics. air wants to move in the path of least resistance. it does not want to go through a bunch of loops.

Unless those loops are expertly tuned loops...

I switched to the SVT header after using a 4 into 1 race header mainly to pass emissions. Assuming you are looking into using a shorty in order to use a HFC, I would just go straight to the SVT. It is simply the best header for the Zetec motor because it was actually ENGINEERED for the motor. Real gains everywhere. I didn't believe that the twisty SVT could out perform the HUGE tubes in my race header until I took the car off the lift and drove around the block.

The only issue/stipulation I have with using a SVTF header is that I need to modify a bit of my car to get it to fit.. the trans crossmember, the radiator, the dipstick tube, and other things.. I'd also end up buying some header wrap so I don't melt the rad fan.
