the square lunch box thing on the stock exhaust. on some of the 2000 yr models there was a rectangle shaped resonator on the stock intake as well.

i have that little square resonator on my intake bor, or i did at least...now theres a 100A fuse holder there covering up that hole on the side.

thats not a n00b question. i just dont know the law. and ive never really had a stock car to work on. so i wouldnt no if it was or not.

It's just a metal box (or shape) that cancels out a lot of the noise coming from the engine through the headers. They're very similar to mufflers in their functionality (well, as I've been told). Taking out the resonator should make the car's exhaust note a little more pronounced as well as resonate more loudly.

Funny thing is, when I took the resonator off my old T-Bird, I never noticed a difference.
