Wondering about EGR and DPFE removel issue or problemss

OK so since I'm upgrading to an SVT header and there was no bung for the EGR valve, I decided I should delete the EGR. I didn't know until yesterday that my '02 has a DPFE on it also. Since I've deleted the EGR how do I satisfy the DPFEs requirement so it's not a problem when getting an inspection?

I'm relatively sure this can be resolved with a tune, but I'm so broke that I'm not sure that I can afford a "new" tuner from Tom until later this year. I have an Xcal2 but didn't get a chance to have Tom establish if it's unlocked or not.

So I'm worried if removing these will keep me from getting a "legal" inspection. I have to get DP inspected since the plates are from Pa. and I'm in Tx. I need a special form from the inspector so I can get Texas plates.

That is my concern and my dilemma, any suggestions to help me get over my "hump"?

Add in a bung to the header like I have done and keep EGR and then just delete it by installing a plate and electronically when able....

and like others...

I was afraid you might say that!!! LOL

My header is already wrapped with Red wrap and the only place the bung could be installed would be down by the collector, plus the mechanic would have to pull the header to install the bung. I don't think he has a welder, I may try to do something short term once I get the car back by using one of the "spare" O2 sensors. I already have a blocking plat on the EGR.

If I'm luck and my Xcal is Unlocked, I can just get a tune from Tom for the lower price and be done with it!! [crosses fingerZ]

There is a sticky (if not stuck then do a search) about some people that where able to fool the DPFE sensor by swapping the vacuum lines.

LOL, I would have found it eventually. Especially since I PMed Paul about this. He's gonna scold me for not reading my stickies!! LOL I added a rep to you for doing the search Sir!!

I did a search in the Zetec performance thread for DPFE and I have 3 pages of threads to weed through. That's why I am hesitant to search a lot...... I'm sure the referenced thread is in that list. D0h!!

I see why you were intimately familiar with the "20% more EGR delete" thread as you were deeply involved in contribution to it!! that's what makes your feedback so valuable to ME! There are a limited amount of people I value their input from on here and you are definitely apart of that "circle of trust"!

After reading the whole thread I took the post Magus linked me and made a word document out of it including the pics. I took it to my mechanic and he understood it immediately. So I'm more inclined to think I will pass my inspection now! YEAH!!!!
