LED headlights

Just put in my switchback turn signals (very nice btw) and the parking like makes the halogens look especially nasty because of the transposition of the pure white vs the standard (albeit bright) yellowy light of the halogens. Anyways- I'm wondering is LED headlights have come far enough to be an option, or if no one has even tried it and I need to be a pioneer about it =p Cree LEDs are reputable, and they are the light modules on these guys. I'm NOT going the HID route as it's illegal in the US

One light on the top lights up for low beam, both light up for high beam, comparable to halogen.

Anything but normal bulbs in OEM reflector housings is illegal as far as I know. I don't think LED bulbs have come far enough to be a good replacement for halogen bulbs.

REISTA, the link you gave has so many legal issues I don't know where to start. These LED are the farthest from being legal. Nothing but a halogen with DOT marking are legal and H designation. 6000K is not legal. Fog lights are a different issue but forward lighting is very controlled by DOT and FMVSS108 regulations

They are moving in the right dirrection but gaining DOT certification is not going to happen

What if you live in FL that has no state inspections? I've seen people drive without front bumpers and hoods here. I've been looking for a new type of modification for our car to see what we can do with it.

I'm in the process of converting my motorcycle over to dual LED bulbs like these and if it works out well I plan on doing the same for the SVT. The HID housings in my SVT are really starting to show their age so I plan on converting them over to ST170 black housings with LED bulbs. I've been running with "illegal" lighting in my vehicles ever since I bolted in my first pair of Cibie Biodes back in 1970 when everybody else was running with seal beam headlights.

To the Light Police I say...

Cibie's went into my first new car, a '76 FIAT 128 3P.

Remember the next version that were sealed, but still used replaceable bulbs?

Now those Euro halogens are the stock lights folks are replacing with newer tech....
