2013 SE w/ sirius & sync upgrade to Sony MFT???

Hey everyone. New to the forum but loving the info so far. The only thing I haven't really found info on is swapping the sirius radio system for the upgraded Sony MFT system. The only thing I've regretted when purchasing my 2013 SE was not getting the Sony radio system. I'm not really interested in the aftermarket kits, I want to keep all the stock functions and looks. Has anyone attempted this and what kind of money would I be looking at for the parts???

Thanks in advance for the help!

I don't think it would be feasible to do it. You will be putting speakers in places where you don't have them now which will require wiring. An amp where you don't have one (more wires), and the head unit which requires frequent updates but the updates are based off the VIN of the car. Since your car doesn't have MFT associated you will be stuck with what ever version of MFT is on the unit you buy which could be a very bad (buggy) thing.

i believe that it was decided that MFT could not be installed on a non MFT car after it left the factory. there has been a few threads discussing this topic

If you just want improved sound quality, you could add a sound processor, and amps. of course you would need to upgrade the speakers too. I upgraded my speakers to components in the front with dedicated crossovers (theres a nice spot inside the door panels for them) and the rear with 3 ways in preparation for the processor/amp addition. The processor will restore the lows and highs that the factory head unit takes out to pretect the speakers, and if you get one with a built in EQ you can actually tune your sound since the factory bass/mid/high seems rather useless. This will net you a way better sound than the factory sony system, and retain all functionality of the system because all modifications occur downstream of the head unit.

For the actual stereo hardware, you'll propably need the head-unit (ACM), display (FDIM), buttons panel, bezel/faceplate and ESPECIALLY the APIM (Sync module)

Theoretically should fit right in.

But the speakers are a different story. You'll need the speakers, the amplifier, the subwoofer, and then you'd have to run cables to all of them, since your wiring harness does not have all the required connectors.

If you decide to do all this, drop me a line and I will buy your old APIM.

APIM and FDIM are the missing pieces of the puzzle as far as swapping is concerned.

What if i just wanted to swap the dash panel to get the bigger screen and didn't care about the speakers cause im going to do them later. I just like the cleaner looks and bigger screen of the Sony unit.
