Advise to seal rear hatch boot

Picked up a used 05 wagon last week to replace my 03 and noticed that everything in the hatch portion wasn't working. I figured I'd remove the harness from my 03 and swap it over but when I removed the boot it had the same type of wear as the 05.

The next best thing was to just repair the harness, to to be sure I got all the exposed wires, I cut the boot and it's a good thing I did because it was even worse than I had initially though.

After repairing and patching (and giving it more slack) everything is working perfectly, now I just want to keep the elements away.

What have people done to reseal this?

Am I better off tossing the boot and using something else to seal this?

What do you guys recommend?
