Buffer splatters polish

Hey all,

So I have a buffer that I have used a couple times to try and polish my car. I'm a real noob when it comes to polishing and I've never been able to fully polish my car without problems or completely killing my arm because I don't know what I'm doing. So I thought since I have a buffer why not use it? Only problem is it seems the attachments I have seem to splatter my polish all over the car and on my windshield and mirrors ( it was such a pain getting all that off ) anyways is there a way to prevent this or was I just using too much polish? I only used a dab or so on the buffer and then I tried putting it directly on the car then polishing.

Any tips or advice is appreciated thanks.

You need to spread it around with your finger first on the buffing pad. That is the primer. Then, you put more on there then tap it onto the area that you are going to buff. This guy knows all with detail. Study his videos. It helped me ALOT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCW8Y_aW_GA

Put 3 to 4 pea size drops on the pad & then put the machine on the panel your starting w/ & then turn it on. Do a 2' x 2' section overlaping a couple of times or so & then turn it off 1st & then lift the machine off the surface. take a clean mircofiber towel & wipe off & look. If it needs more correction, do some more & then if more go w/ a heavier compound w/ a clean pad. Always turn the machine on & off w/ the machine against the surface. Yea, you turn the machine off w/ it on the surface & then get in a hurry or forget that the wheel is still turning even thou the machine is off & its all over you & the car. So off & on w/ the machine on the surface w/ the pad stopped.

That actually was probably my problem the whole time, never even occurred to me to do that. Do you guys recommend any buffing pads in particular, or know where to get some good ones? I have a bunch of polish's, just no really good pads.

And I'm definitely gonna take a look at that link papaacer.

The first time I used my Flex I didn't know it had a trigger lock and I took it off the surface and it kept running on the highest setting and omg it was everywhere.

Guess I should have read the manual?

But yes, prime the pad so that you're not forced to use more product than you need, then just a few pea sized spots of it (depends on the product too) and don't remove the pad from the car until it has stopped or is almost stopped.

Which are buff n shines. Don't forget about Lake country pads= lot of styles & choices. As long as you use clean/new pads & a good technique= 2'x2' area, slow overlapping passes.
