I was hoping to do this over the upcoming weekend and didn't realize that it would be this difficult to find a local retailer for the trim paint. DOH....

They used to have a dealer locator on their site, I got mine from a Sherwin Williams Auto Paint store, a local auto pant store might carry it too. I used the Color Coat satin black, it matches the factory black almost perfectly.

Not many places carry SEM. I always have to get mine online.

It's perfectly safe to drive without the center console. I did it for months while I was searching for a console.

sanding will do nothing for preventing fish eyes or contaminates, actually it will do the opposite. it will bury the oils into the plastic and ensure problems. best thing to do is clean with castrol super clean. and then wipe with vm&p naptha prior to using the adhesion promoter. I recommend mad dog. for adhesion use a red scotch bright and scuff everything till the shine is gone. you can use a mixture of super clean and water while scuffing. if you use a non catalyzed paint its not going to be very durable. there are some that are better than others I use a lot of the duplicolor engine paint. it seems to bond pretty well. and has a nice satin sheen. I usually bake it on which won't be an option for you, but on things like windshield wipers and gun barrels it is pretty tough. and a nice satin sheen
