Question Flasher Location (yes I searched)

So it's me again. 07 SE hatch. I'm replacing turn signals for LEDS. I know resistors are one way but I know you can also replace the turn signal flasher/relay. With that said, I've read like seven different theories on this. Some people say it's under the dash on the left side of the steering wheel, some say there is no flasher, it's controlled by the ECU, some say it's part of the hazard switch, and so on...

So, who can give me a definite answer? Or at least give me an idea of what to look for?

EDIT: MODS, realized I posted in probably the wrong location. Move if you must.

It's controlled by the body control module (bcm) in the passenger kick panel.

I know 00-01 have way different electronics from the later 02-04/05-07 cars. The flashing system is one big difference, there's a big heatsink on 00-01 hazard switches for instance. A lot of electrical posts by the early Focus owners can be misleading for the rest, even though they're only trying to help.

Is there an actual flasher? How else would it work? I mean I hear that infamous focus click that can only come from a relay...

The sound comes from a little piezo speaker in the turn signal switch, It's all electronic.

Wow...even in an 07? That seems overly complex...

So these resistors...how do I know what I need? and do they just wire into the positive wire going to the bulb socket?

It would be much easier to understand that thread if people A.) knew how to type and use proper english, and B.) broke the process down a little more so it wasn't so wordy.

What I got out of that is that in the case of the switchbacks in place of driving lights on the front of mine, there is no way to make the switchback aspect of it work correctly without some serious trick wiring?

The taillights don't seem so hard, but the front side marker and driving/turn signal lights sound like a PITA.
