Data interpertation: non tuning

So to make it quick, i suspect my bank 2 sensor was failing due to my pitiful gas mileage yet no recent codes. There was one code thrown for it, in the middle of -10*F winter day that was related but that was now months ago 1 time. Anyway I have an OBD II dongle and the Torque app just for fun honestly, it probably isn't the best tool for data but I figure it might be handy to have around for things like this.

I hook it up and pull what i believe is the ST O2 live data on it to see whats going on. My sensor 1 seems to be working fine going up and down from .1v-.9v but the sensor 2 is holding just about stead on .8-.9 volt moving very little.

I'm having trouble find more info on interrupting sensor 2 sensors as most people are only ever looking at bank 1 for tuning. Now I know this is more maintenance related but I was hoping since most tuners look at this information on some level maybe you can help me out.


If I had to guess, Its time to replace it. Its just my daily zx3 if that helps.

FWIW it would be bank 1 sensor 2 (one "bank" on a 4 cyl.) and the second sensor only reports whether the CAT is functioning. Sensor 1 you mentioned is used for fine tuning the fuel mixture.

I feel like that was a phone typo =/ I know its i4 not a v6/8. So yeah sorry, I did mean Bank 1, then sensor 1 or 2.

I cant remember for sure but i believe i removed 2 of mine when i installed my header.

I believe im only using the top one and the wideband now. The other 2 (one in the cat and after the cat i removed.

They are used but if you want ill send you my 2 old ones if i can find them. If interested send me a PM

When i changed my exhaust my car only had about 43k on it so they should still have a few miles left?

You can rent the 02 tools you need to remove them also, a little cheaper then buying the tool. Plus if im not mistaken when you rent an 02 tool kit it has all 3 types so then you can decide wich type works for your car before you buy a tool.

Also not sure of this either but arnt 2 of them the same? or maybe all 3 are the same? wondering if maybe you can switch them around?

Check the plugs make sure they havnt been switched by the prevous owner?

Link in that thread is working for me at the moment, give it a try.

You click on the "non-subscriber services" on the left for OBD descriptions & pick your vehicle year.

You can skim through to the section of interest - MUCH more info. than simple codes give.
