I don't know anything about bikes... is that really bad enought to total? It doesn't look too bad in the pics but I might be looking right past something.
It's gonna sound wierd, but congrats on walking away from that! And having the sense to wear the right gear. I've never heard the term "squid gear" before, but I'm familiar with "donor cycle"... |

No surfing this one for me, rode it until it was too late, then BAM.
 I've been riding long enough to have been down a couple times, and know how much it hurts. Riding without full gear, is just stupid, but that is always a personal choice. I'm damned lucky to have walked away, let alone ride 100 or more miles home on the same bike. The damage you can't see much is that the gas tank has a dent big enough for a big fist, all the body work on the bike save for one side panel, are toast, all the frame/support brackets, possibly the front end (forks and all) may be toast, and I think the front wheel will have to be replaced.

you going to replace the bike or give up riding? guy up here at work has a 2000 katana 750 he
wants 4k for? don't know if its worth it or not I dont know much about bikes, showed him your pics and he offered |

Yep, sad as it is, the damage bill was only $800 less than I paid for the bike a couple years back.
