Battery relocation

Front battery is done for. I flipped the breaker to my rear batteries and the front wouldn't even start the car.

I really don't want to spend $150 on a front AGM battery and would like to just use my rear batteries. Keeping the dead front one in is causing a drain on my rear batts.

I know I've seen a few pics of relocated batteries in 08-11 focus.

What do I need to do with wiring up front? Maybe I'm just over thinking this..

You'd need a rear with heavy cables hooked direct to the front cables.

Sounds like your sound system batteries may have been helping the front out a bit, but sometimes when one dies it won't work even with another jumped to it (internal short sucks power).

Battery disconnect switch is the only "breaker" good enough to carry starting power to the front.

I believe a couple of the turbo'd Mk2 guys have relocated batteries. They'd be the ones to ask. They used that area for the turbo and I guess moved the battery to the rear.

The issue with the battery relocation is the ECU. The ECU uses the battery box as a mounting location. So when you move the battery the ECU is just kinda hanging out. This is something that is on my TO-DO list also. I've just been having trouble figuring out a nice way to mount the ECU.

Some guys kind of zip tie them down, but it's not very clean.

Pulled the front battery out the other day. Just have to clean up the wiring when I get a chance. Works great though.
