Definitely do your research before you just jump out and buy a car. I do see some Volts running around here, and in a small town like this where everything is in close proximity like you, it makes total sense.

All that I can say is compare your options, and maybe, just maybe, something will come up that will give you a better deal than what you were looking at before.

Keep in mind that while you may not be paying for gas as much, if you do end up plugging it in to charge it you will see a large spike in your electric bill. Good luck with your search!

Thank you for all your great advices.
I am still looking at it and try to find more about Volt. About the electricity "price spike", being in Québec where everything runs on cheap electricity, it's about hardly 1 $ a day to full charge the car. To charge at any electric stations is 2.5 $ (taxes included) per charge. So... 30 $ vs 250 $ a month (the price of gas here is about 1.58-1.60 $ for 1 liter of 91 gasoline) it is a difference maker. Yes, I am sure I will use some gas at times, but I can live with 100 $ vs 250 $ a month.

Some great readings if you are interested : http://content.sierraclub.org/evguide/myths-vs-reality

DURATECoftheDesert, I tried a C-MAX too. It is a great car -> very close to FF. But Volt seams to be a better solution for what I am looking for. Still, not decided yet.

Ok, I did in the end. I switched my FF with a Volt 2014. I just get it two days ago and it is another kind of beast. The FF I had was great with all the bells and whistels. The Volt has almost everything but the Park assist. It's good for me, I had it only because of my wife.
It is a nice feeling to get into my Volt and doing the shopping without using a drop of gas. The same goes to going to work (31 miles commute both ways). My volt goes for now 43 miles on EV only and I expect even better.
Thank you for everything guys! This forum helped me a lot and I was proud to be one of you !

My work is taking about adding charging stations and a plug in vehicle here gets you on the HOV lanes. If they keep up with tax credits it may be a more attractive option next time around.

Very Nice! Our plant manager has a Volt and loves it...I haven't been able to talk details about it yet. I do like the extended range on the volt...but the price tag is a few years away for me :)

Here, in Québec, the base price is 35 400$ right now (employee price) and with a 8 000 $ discount (gouvernment), the price is equal to a FF Titanium. The funy thing is that I have no longer to pay for gas, electricity only = 25-30 $ a month (taxes included).
