DCT roadmap from Getrag

Found this on the web. Although Getrag plans on introducing a 7speed DCT, the current 6 speed DCT will be around until at least 2021.

I wish I had a 7 speed auto....the 6 speed auto (18's w/ handling) is only getting me 39 mpg on highway, would like to get better mileage.

You're doing fine, don't complain. I did a 75mph, 300 mile trip this weekend and only got around 34-35.

Getrag says they want to use a common technology throughout their DCT product line. Coincidentally they are now including "pump on demand" wet clutch technology that only pumps clutch oil in proportion to the amount of clutch heat needing dissipation. This is supposed to allow a wet clutch DCT to match the energy efficiency of the dry clutch DCTs and that was the main reason for using the dry clutch in the first place. The dry clutch DCT was said to offer a full 10% efficiency improvement over a conventional automatic trans and that's huge.

I only get 28mpg in my '07 Subaru Impreza with a 5mt. The same as my fiance's '13 forrestor with a 4 speed auto... Oh well its funny to drive! It's light years better than the 2wd ranger I drove that got 14 mpg in the city if you were easy on it.
