trunk latch

hello,the electric trunk latch was non functional on my 2000 zts sedan.Got one from a junkyard and it operates perfect! Yea!! But I have to switch the key assembly so I can use my key(as the one I got has no key) ....can anyone stear me in the right direction? I tried the dealer...they werent helpful......

Not all that easy to do. You might try taking the assemblies to a locksmith who could likely do it easier with the right tools.

(If they can't do it easier, particularly with the missing key problem, see #1 (grin))

Sailor thanks for the quick reply as i have the daughters car in between school....i have my good cylinder out of the bad latch but am having a problem getting the spring to latch.I have not separated the the cylinder from the the latch....I'm so close..... does anyone know of a way to put that spring in with the latch assembly not separated?

Could not find a way to do it without seperating the assy....dit that and re-installed the spring--screwed the cyl assy to the latch...works great.

Tx for the report on the fix, couldn't help further myself as I haven't had that apart yet. Sometimes just knowing it can be done is enough encouragement that you find a way...
