Complete Cleaning Kit

Hi guys,

So while I waste away waiting for the dealer to deliver my new 2014 Ford Focus (black, 3rd World Titanium trim ), I wanted to buy a good and complete cleaning kit (Ford recommends Motorcraft brand, but I have never heard of that before). There are several available on Amazon, but I can't tell good from rubbish - so does anyone have any recommendations? I know that Amazon has a good rating system, but reading some of the comments, I cant say I trust the feedback these people are giving.

Kit should include all you need to clean the car properly. I rather buy a kit because I am lazy, and I am also not versed enough in the subject to go mix and match which may cause more harm than good. Meguiar's Complete Car Care Kit seems to be pretty popular, and has most everything you need. Armorall and Mothers has kits too that are highly rated on Amazon; I also see a Turtle wax kit specifically for black cars, but I think that may just be for waxing.

Jump on http://autogeek.net, they have a lot of products. Get a grit guard, a good m/f mitt, soap, clay bar. You could get a Griots Garage 6'' buffer, which is super easy to use d/a. They have lots of vids to show you how to use & pick out machines & products.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, but I have no idea what you just said! Too many acronyms; for all intents and purposes, please assume I am an idiot . Sorry, this is why I asked for a complete kit to not give anyone grief in dealing with my ignorance.

D/a means dual action. It is a type of buffer/sander.

I have tried multiple times joining the site and keep getting a denied message due to their protection against spammers.

I have tried gmail and ISP e-mail addresses, different passwords and made sure the security code was correct.

Any ideas?

I tried looking for a member from here to use as a referrer to see if that would help, but did not find anyone.

I sent them a message yesterday via their Contact Us page yesterday.

Problem solved, turns out it was my username, so I had to modify it... hate when that happens :)

Autoality.com is a good place to pick up grit guards, mitt, etc...

How crazy are you looking to go?

This will get you going if you don't want to get into machines and what not...

http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-new-car-care-kit.html

I'd add a second bucket and grit guard though.

Learn how to use the two bucket wash method and that'll solve a number of issues.

After doing the 3M Headlight restoration, I decided to start with the Meguiar's G55107 DA Power System Kit, but not sure I wanted to do the whole vehicle with that small of a pad, so I have been looking at Griot's 6" Polisher.

I also got the 3M Paint Restoration System kit since it was on clearance at Pepboys for $13.50.

Job situation is a little volatile right now, so a full machine is on hold right now.
