Hey everyone!

I just tested this on our test unit. When I turned the power off to our unit, my iPod kept playing. I then retested it with just my iPod connected via USB and my iPod paused itself and went to "sleep".

5speed SE,

I suggest using just the USB port. :)

Rebecca

thank you Rebecca and everyone else for chiming in... with your help i have a better understanding of how it all works... having both the "line in" and usb cables hooked up probably confused the system and it didn't know what to do... now, the usb only hooked up, everything seems to work a-ok...

i guess with the iPod going into "sleep mode" is kind of the same thing as turning off... i was just worried i'd walk out to the car to find a dead iPod but i guess as long as it's plugged in and the 12v car battery isn't dead, the iPod should actually be charged(ing) the whole time... good enough for me...

thanks again!

If I'm listening to my iPod and turn the car off it picks up where I left off when I start the car again so I know it stops playing and probably puts itself to sleep just like when you push stop. No need to disconnect or turn off the iPod. This is using the line in USB. I don't know about the base stereo control but I can control most functions from the wheel.

yep, i finally noticed that too when using usb, it pauses your song and goes to sleep... dumb me had both line in and usb hooked up and was having all kinds of issues...lol i was just worried i'd have to unplug everything every time i got out of the car but that doesn't seem to be the case... everything seems to be working good now...

but later today i had another issue and i'm not even sure if it's really an issue but i just started making voice activated phone calls and my third call was dropped and gone... maybe it briefly lost signal and that's what it does? i don't know... like i said, when it comes to some of the technology, i'm dumb... something to worry about another day...

Let me start off with this: you're not dumb. These are all valid questions. :)

The phone call could have been dropped if your cell phone lost signal, or if you pressed the PHONE button on the steering wheel and held it down for a few seconds. If it continues to happen, send the details in a private message along with your VIN and I'll look into it. I'm glad we were able to help with your iPod question!
