I think most of us car nuts were inspired sometime in our childhood and it's usually racy cars that get our attention first and it's something like a Vette or the like that draws the imagination. And yes an ST could easily get a little of that attention. I'm in my mid 40 and was raised on muscle cars and it's funny you mention a Pinto since my dad built a '77 with a 400hp 289 (along with donor Mustang driveline and 9" rearend) that ran 12s in the 1/4 so that car helped me along and got to race it at the strip when I was 15. My best was a 13.7

I do get looks from the younger set in my STI when I drop my niece off at school but when I'm in the Focus I get more compliments from the moms and the like. I dont think the Focus solely makes one a car nut but it could playa small role if it's your first car.

Dyn, I totally agree. Always been a car guy. I love my mk3 but do wish I woulda saved for an st. I miss my old explorer everyday. Mine was a 97 2 door. What year was your ranger?

It was just an '05, but it did everything that I needed for a daily driver. Considering the amount of money I have put into my Mk3, I could have seriously gone nuts with that truck. I didn't start really missing it until seeing the guys from the Ranger Roundup at FocusFest last year.

In all honesty, I usually miss most all of my cars once they're gone. My favorite vehicles are always the last one and the future one.

I have always been a car nut / enthusiast. I grew up surrounded by a few family members and MANY friends who were also into cars. I've driven plenty of different vehicles such as EVOs, WRXs, FC/FD RX-7s, S13/S14 Silvias, 180/240SXs, Civics and Integras, a R32 GTR, a MR2, a NSX... You can see they were all "great handlers" for their time.

Sure the Focus is slower and heavier, but for a daily driver, the suspension is no where near as jarring and/or as dull as some of those cars can be at times. And it definitely has a higher amount of grip than quite a few of those cars which can put a big grin on your face with few drawbacks.
