HOW-TO Install Shift Knob/Boot on ATX

Here are my pics without removing the PRND21 plate. I found the leather shift boot with the red stitching that matches my interior perfectly.

It's made by Redline and I picked it up at Autozone for $20. I was going to order one online but then I saw the knob and the boot and decided then that I was adding another project on for that day. I was really happy with the way it came out.

both look great i will have to do that some day but i have but one questiong is this possible to do without the shiftboot and what kind of stwick is needed for the O/D button thanks!

^^ any kind of switch, if my memory serves me correctly, its just the hot and ground wire that go up into the handle for the O/D button. you can just cut the adapter from the hangle, attach some more wire to the end of it, run the wire to where you want the switch (any switch that has the common red/black) and then plug it into the adapter on the console (if you left it there like I did I didnt cut the wires like Lil did.)

and as for the shiftboot thing, yes. just unscrew the screw inside the handle, pull it off, put the new shifter on, and boom, your done. (Looks kinda funky though with most aftermarket handles and no boot being there)

kool thanks im gonna thing about doing this sometime in the near future hopefully im always up for doing something to my car im gonna try to figure out something that will look good and normal without the shift boot and if i do i will post a pic here if and when i get around to it

Yeah you don't need to put on a boot if you don't want to. Just gotta take off the stock knob with the little torx driver and pop a new one on there. Only take a couple seconds really.

As for conserving the O/D button, I know Brad/WRC~Phoenix has a button Under his shift boot, so he cna press it but it's hidden under there.

The auto shift knob from MOMO is awesome, I'm putting everything together right now to do this but still not sure how to set up the OD button - how about some ideas as to where it should go so as to at least be accessible.
